Highway engineer gives 67 updateWork continues on the completion of the four lanes of U.S. Hwy. 67, from Hwy. 226 (between Swifton and Cash) to the Hwy. 63 interchange at Hoxie. This segment of the highway is expected to open around Labor Day.
Once this 16-mile span of highway is opened, travelers on U.S. Hwy. 67 will have a four-lane highway from Hoxie to Little Rock.
District 10 Engineer Walter McMillan of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department shared the latest updates on the project with The TD.
Rose encourages community involvementDina Rose, a lifelong resident of Lawrence County, will serve as chair of the board of directors of the county's Chamber of Commerce in 2016.
"When asked four years ago if I would be interested in serving on the Chamber Board, I was both honored to be asked and excited about a new opportunity," Rose said. "At the same time, I wondered what I could possibly bring to the table."
She said she really wasn't even familiar with the responsibilities of the Chamber.
Governor requests declarationGovernor Asa Hutchinson has submitted his request for a Federal Disaster Declaration to President Obama for 37 counties in Arkansas due to severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that began in late December.
Lawrence County is included in the declaration, as well as neighboring counties Greene, Randolph, Independence and Jackson.
