Williams group
delayed in D.C.

We received the news release below regarding the East Coast snowstorm that dumped amounts reaching the 30-inch range over the weekend. Our snow and ice here was nothing by comparison but enough to close schools and slow business activity from Wednesday through Friday.

The Williams release states:

"The snowstorm along the East Coast has caused a Williams Baptist College group to stay a little longer than intended in Washington, D.C.

Pictures of the Past

Riley Mullen (left), a blacksmith, is shown shoeing a horse at his shop in Strawberry in this 1910s photograph. His son, Roy Mullen (right), later served as a longtime attorney and municipal judge in Walnut Ridge and founded Mullen Abstract and Insurance Agency. One of several signs on the shop advertises Kantbebeat Clothing sold by W.E. Jones of Strawberry. (Pictures of the Past is a cooperative effort of The Times Dispatch and the Lawrence County Historical Society. Readers are encouraged to submit historic photos.)
