Alice Dean

Alice Dean, 82, of Jonesboro, formerly of Alicia, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at her residence.

Born May 3, 1933, in Cord, she was the daughter of Luther and Nettie Irene Thornton Cossey. She was a member of the Alicia Church of Christ, and was an excellent seamstress and upholsterer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grady Weaver Dean; her daughter, Gretta Dean Whitmire; and three brothers, Ray, Alfred, and Harvey Cossey.

Survivors include her daughter, Becky (Tim) Gibson of Jonesboro; her beloved granddaughter, Crystal (Chris) Warden of Hoxie, whom she raised; grandchildren, Callie (Adam) Partee, Casey (Brandi) Gibson and Sydney Gibson; two great grandsons, River and Maximus Warden of Hoxie; one great-granddaughter, Lindi Beth Partee; two brothers, Luther Cossey Jr. of Jonesboro, and James (Sue) Cossey of Tuckerman; four sisters, Ruby Gilmore of Batesville, Lois (Paul) Hanser of Tipton, Iowa, Doris (Richard) Parker of Lawson, Mo., and Bonnie (Lehman) Stephens; many nieces and nephews; several other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with Jason Hembrey and Tim Gibson officiating. Interment was in the Stranger's Home Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dennis Hanser, Mark Cossey, Wayne Cossey, Ronnie Cossey, Buddy Cossey, Chris Warden, Tim Gibson and Casey Gibson. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Cossey, Kenneth Cossey, Delmas Gilmore, Linnis Gilmore and Bobby Stephens.

Memorials may be made to the Compassionate Action/Glass Slipper Closet at 2813 Stone Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401.

Hoover C. Guthrie

Hoover Curtis Guthrie, 87, of Lebanon, Ill., died Jan. 6, 2016, at Cedar Ridge Healthcare in Lebanon.

Born Nov. 7, 1928, in Jesup, he was the son of Arthur and Virgie Moody Guthrie. He was the owner and operator of Hoover's Auto Body & Upholstery in East St. Louis, Ill., for over 30 years. He was also the owner and president of Guthrie AMC Jeep & Renault in Collinsville, Ill., for eight years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in O'Fallon, Ill., where he served as deacon, usher and greeter.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mollie F. Robins Guthrie, whom he married May 27, 1950; five children, Danny Guthrie and wife Cindy, Robin Suydam and husband David, Jonathon Guthrie, and Cindy Wait and husband Mike, all of Lebanon, Ill., and Christopher Guthrie and wife JoEllyn, Springhill, Fla.; two sisters, Barb Thrasher and husband Lee, and Imogene Massey; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Funeral was Monday at noon at First Baptist Church in O'Fallon, Mo., with pastor Doug Munton and associate pastor Skip Leininger officiating. Burial was in Lake View Memorial Gardens at Fairview Heights, Ill., under the direction of Lake View Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of O'Fallon Academy.

Joe Lemmons

Joe Lemmons, 84, of Pocahontas died Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.

Born Nov. 30, 1931, in Randolph County, he was the son of the late Guy and Fannie (Ivy) Lemmons. A lifetime resident of Randolph County, he was retired from farming.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Bennett Lemmons; his brother, Edward Guy Lemmons; and sister Billie Sue Lemmons Pender.

Survivors are his daughter, Dana (Stephen) Thompson of Cabot; three grandchildren, Steven (Carrie) Singleton of Amarillo, Texas, Zachary (Brittany) Singleton of Beebe, and Brach Thompson of Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Jace Tyler and Sarah Kate Singleton of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Minnie Lemmons Davis of Pocahontas, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Graveside services celebrating his life were Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Randolph Memorial Gardens with Bill Gay officiating. McNabb Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Steven and Zachary Singleton, Brach Thompson, Kenneth Bennett, Jerry "Butch" Pender and Joey Lemmons.

Memorials may be made to Paragould Children's Home, 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450 or a charity of the donor's choice in memory of Joe Lemmons.

Kendall Milligan

Ernest Kendall Milligan, 91, of Walnut Ridge, died Jan. 6, 2016, at Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab.

Born July 11, 1924, in Strawberry, he was the son of Ernest and Irene Jackson Milligan and a longtime resident of Walnut Ridge. He was a highly decorated World War II veteran and an auto mechanic. He was of the Church of Christ belief.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Asbrene Smithee Milligan; and a son, Angelo Milligan.

Survivors include a son, Jerrel Milligan and wife Genevieve; a daughter, Cynthia Camp; a brother, Edward Milligan; two sisters, Shirl Clark and Margaret Ellis; five grandchildren, Kristin Camp, Kalyn Camp, Kenny Milligan, Jimmy Milligan and Melinda Milligan; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Don House officiating. Burial was in Milligan Campground Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jerrel Milligan, Kenny Milligan, Jimmy Milligan, Kalyn Camp, Kon Smithee and Kristen Camp.

Dale Nicholson

Clarence "Dale" Nicholson, 74, of Swifton, died Jan. 9, 2016.

Born Oct. 6, 1941, in Swifton, he had lived on the family farm in Swifton for 74 years. He was a 1959 graduate of Swifton High School and studied engineering and history at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He retired from farming after 30 years and drove a truck cross-country for eight years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Grace Stockinger Nicholson.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Brenda Counts Nicholson; a son, Erik Nicholson, Blytheville; two daughters, Stephanie Taylor and husband Shane, Jonesboro, and Lisa Richardson and husband Brian, Paragould; a sister, Joyce Smith, Houston; a brother, Leon Nicholson, Little Rock; and six grandchildren, Kane Nicholson, Forrest Richardson, Jett Taylor, Jayde Taylor, Silas Richardson and Barrett Dale Richardson.

Graveside service was Tuesday at Strangers Home Cemetery with Leslie Taylor officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Margie L. Price

Margie L. Price, 83, of Fairview Heights, Ill., formerly of Fairmont City, Ill., died Dec. 25, 2015, at her home.

Born March 1, 1932, in Lake City, she was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Price.

Survivors include five children, Dorothy Wood and husband Michael, Fairview Heights, Ill., Carrel Price, Arcadia, Fla., Shirley Ellis and husband Michael, Millstadt, Ill., David Price, Fairmont City, Ill., and Terry Price and wife Susan, Ironton, Mo.; three brothers, Bill Denison, Dave Denison and Melvin Denison, all of Arkansas; a sister, Pamlyn Martz, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at a later date at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Ill.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.

Jewel Walker

Jewel Beatrice Burrus Walker, 94, of New Hartford, N.Y., died Jan. 8, 2016, at Presbyterian Home of Central New York in New Hartford.

Born May 8, 1921, in Boynton, Ark., she was the daughter of Peter Edward and Lovie L. Muse Watson. She worked as a desk clerk at various hotels in Memphis, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Burrus; her second husband, William "W.W." Walker; and a son, Gary Burrus.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Piechowicz and husband Marion, Utica, N.Y.; a stepson, William Walker and wife Jean, Memphis; two brothers, James Watson and wife Bonnie, and Larry Watson, both of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Ruth Waters and Beulah Verkeilin, both of Rockford, Ill.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral is Friday at 1 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home with Seth Parnell officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.
