Westside, Bay claim WBC Tourney titles

WR boys are runners-up

The 57th annual Williams Baptist College High School Basketball Tournament concluded Friday night, with the Bay girls and Westside boys claiming titles.

Westside - WR boys

The Westside Warriors defeated the Walnut Ridge Bobcats 73-44 in the boys final. Rico Mayo scored a game-high 29 points for the Warriors.

Bay - Pocahontas girls

The Bay Lady Yellowjackets trailed defending girls champion Pocahontas 21-8 before going on an 18-0 run to move into a 26-21 lead. Bay's Katie Ferguson hit five three-pointers in the second quarter to key the comeback.

Walnut Ridge 42, Tuckerman 39

The Bobcats overcame an 18-16 halftime deficit to earn a spot in the finals. Spencer Wilson scored 12 point, all in the second half, and Kenzie Flippo finished with 12 as well for Walnut Ridge.

Pocahontas 48, Southside 18


Tuckerman 55, Pocahontas 47

Walnut Ridge 69, Corning 62

Flippo led Walnut Ridge with 28 points, while Wilson scored 12, and Martin Crisler added 10 points.
