Pictures of the Past

Every parking space is filled on Main Street Walnut Ridge in this 1941 postcard. Before it was "The Grill," Bill's Cafe stood on the near left corner, competing with Lee's Cafe right next door. Sexton's Drugs is further down on the left, directly opposite of its current location. Near right is the old First National Bank next to Maloy Hardware. (Pictures of the Past is a cooperative effort of The Times Dispatch and the Lawrence County Historical Society. Readers are encouraged to submit historic photos.)
