Susie Ann Anglin

Susie Ann Moore Anglin, 69, of Walnut Ridge, died Nov. 25, 2015, at her home.

Born Feb. 11, 1946, in Hoxie, she was a longtime resident of Hoxie and worked as a cashier at Walmart for many years. She was a member of New Beginnings Full Gospel Church in Hoxie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burling J. and Lillie Mary Ross Moore; two brothers, James H. Moore and John L. Moore; and a sister, Linda Kay Reeves.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Sonny Anglin; a son, Sonny Boy Anglin; two daughters, Patty Glidewell and husband Jeff, and April Pillows and husband Rick; two brothers, Donald Moore and Timmy Moore; four sisters, Virginia Shatsar, Ruth Moore, Rose Humes and Betty Daugherty; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at New Beginnings Full Gospel Church in Hoxie with Rev. Rick Anglin, Nick Troutman, Chuck Fitzgerald and David Craig officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Dwayne Anglin, Johnny Shatsar, Andy Thomas, Greg Coats, Ricko Anglin and Chad Moore. Grandsons, nephews and sons-in-law served as honorary pallbearers.

Thelma Pauline Arthur

Thelma Pauline Arthur, 85, of Paragould, died Nov. 22, 2015, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born Feb. 8, 1930, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of John Alvin and Audrey Hare.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Arthur; two daughters, Patricia Arthur and Kathleen Bunnell; two brothers, Howard Fry and Othel Lee Fry; two sisters, Freda Murphy and Jesse Mae Liles; and a granddaughter, Andrea Arthur.

Survivors include three sons, Samuel Arthur, Al Arthur and Phillip Arthur; two daughters, Rebecca Cude and Michelle Nelson; a brother, Junior Waldrupe; three sisters, Lois Root, Katie Tillman and Carolyn Bobo; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bono United Pentecostal Church with Danny Murphy officiating. Burial was in Lorado Cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Paragould.

Ricky Bagwell

Ricky Joe Bagwell, 57, of Ash Flat, died Nov. 22, 2015, at White River Medical Center.

Born Nov. 16, 1958, in Walnut Ridge, he was the son of Thomas and Ruthie Moore Bagwell. He was a roofer, and was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Bagwell.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Bagwell and wife Charla, Pollard; his mother, Ruth, and stepfather Larry Gibbens, Ravenden; four brothers, Garry Bagwell and wife Karen, Ash Flat, Tommy Bagwell and wife Kathy, Ravenden, Terry Bagwell and wife Cindy, Ozark Acres, and Tim Bagwell and wife Rhonda, Highland; a sister, Teresa Nunally and husband Nelson, Imboden; and a granddaughter, Aubree Bagwell.

Funeral was Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 11:30 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Bryant officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery at Imboden.

Pallbearers were Nelson Nunally, Kenny Tubbs, Kenny Moore, Cody Bagwell, Clay Bagwell and Matthew Bagwell.

Ellen Bargo

Ellen Bargo, 63, of Cave City, died Nov. 23, 2015, at a Batesville hospital.

Born Jan. 8, 1952, in Oklahoma City, Okla., she was a homemaker and a retired cosmetologist. She was a member of the Little Springs Baptist Church at Poughkeepsie.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lt. Jonathan Hash; and a grandson, Toby Allen Pagan.

Survivors include a son, Michael Bargo, Smithville; six daughters, Kathy Bargo, Smithville, Jenny Johnson, Monticello, Robin Break and Gail Moye, both of Cave City, Crystal Jolly, Newark, and Sarah Crabb, Glendale, Ariz.; her parents, Kenneth and Robie Nell Hash, Poughkeepsie; two brothers, Terry Hash, Poughkeepsie, and Daniel Hash, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday at 2 p.m. at Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church at Nelsonville with Bro. Sammy Bennett officiating. Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery at Nelsonville under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Jonathan Hash, Thomas Hash, Will Hash, David Pagan, Michael Bargo, Jacob Aldrich and Toby Pagan.

Willie Ray Croom

Willie Ray Croom, 71, of Powhatan, died Nov. 28, 2015, at his home.

Born April 19, 1944, in Powhatan, he was a lifelong resident of Powhatan and a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Hoxie. He was a retired tug boat pilot and truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Raymond "Buster" Croom; his mother, Gladys Colbert Croom Woodson; and a brother, Billie James Croom.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Loretta Croom; two sons, Billy Croom and wife Candy, Cave City, and Stephen Croom and wife Stephanie, Portia; two daughters, Tammy Croom, of the home, and Jacqueline Croom Vesey and husband Ron, Abilene, Texas; two brothers, Mike Croom and wife Kristi, Black Rock, and Raymond Croom; two sisters, Teresa Scott, Walnut Ridge, and Tywana Wiles and husband Peter, Charleston, Ill.; six grandchildren, Miranda, Jacob and Jordan Vesey, and Hunter, Carley and Addison Croom.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with sister Rebecca LaPiro officiating. Burial was in Powhatan Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bradley Scott, Artis Roush, Randy Robins, Ron Ervin, Clint Ervin and Robert Gilbert. Honorary pallbearers were Eldon Whitmire, Buford Eagan, Danny Smith, Marvin Gilbert, Ron Vesey and Kenny Whitmire.

Rebecca Jean Davis

Rebecca Jean "Becky" Ditto Davis, 55, of Walnut Ridge, died Nov. 27, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Born May 12, 1960, in Walnut Ridge, she was a homemaker and was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvis and Linda Casey Ditto; and a sister, Serita Perry.

Survivors include two daughters, Christy Davis and Kristy Lashlee, both of Jonesboro; a brother, Billy Ditto, Mountain View; a sister, Cindy Allen, Walnut Ridge; a companion, Allen Willfond, Hoxie; a granddaughter, Savannah McFarland, Jonesboro; and two grandsons, Max Hibbs and Walker Hibbs.

Funeral was Monday at 2 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Allen Stinnett officiating. Burial was in Arnold Cemetery near Swifton.

Pallbearers were Eston Allen, Elton Allen, Glen Smith, David Ditto, Chris Ditto and Brett Ditto.

Madonna Elaine Hoelscher

Madonna Elaine Thennes Hoelscher, 90, of Pocahontas, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Nov. 27, 2015, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born May 15, 1925, in Jonesboro, she was the daughter of Matthew (Mathias) Anton and Genevieve Ula Difani Thennes. She graduated as valedictorian from St. Paul Catholic School in Pocahontas in 1944. She attended St. Vincent Infirmary School of Nursing in Little Rock, graduating at the top of her class in 1949.

After becoming a registered nurse, she moved to Walnut Ridge, where she worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and later at the Arkansas Department of Health for Lawrence County.

She moved to Nashville, Ark., in 1964 and worked as a nurse and served as director of Golden Age Nursing Home. She later worked for the Arkansas Department of Health as Public Health Nurse for Howard County.

She returned to Pocahontas in 1980 and worked as the public health nurse for Randolph County until her retirement in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Hoelscher, whom she married Sept. 6, 1952, in Pocahontas; a son, Edward Michael Hoelscher; six brothers, Matthew Clemons Thennes, Jacob Thennes, Matthew Thennes, Joe Thennes, Mike Thennes and John Thennes; and five sisters, Genevieve Baltz, Ula DeClerk, Mercedes Ryan, Vera Thennes and Clementine Thennes.

Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Linda Sanders Jones, Oklahoma, and Betty Hoelscher, Oswego, N.Y.; two sons, James Hoelscher Jr., Fayetteville, and Joe Hoelscher, Baldwin City, Kan.; a sister, Clara Price, Lawrence, Kan.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral mass is today at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Pocahontas. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Parish Life Center fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Joe Edward Jackson

Joe Edward Jackson, 69, died Nov. 23, 2015.

Born Jan. 25, 1946, he was retired from GE in Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary West Jackson; and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Golden Vest Jackson; four children, Jody Jackson and wife Caroline, Alan Vest and wife Melissa, Kelli Fields and husband John, all of Texas, and Melissa Younge and husband Shane, Cabot; three sisters; six brothers; 15 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter on the way.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lonoke Baptist Church, with committal services at 3 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park. Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke had charge of arrangements.

Timmy J. Kirks

Timmy J. Kirks, 57, of Ravenden, died Nov. 30, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 9, 1958, in Murray, Ky., he was a retired rock crusher for Martin Mametta Materials and was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Romel and Willadean Burkeen Kirks; and a brother, Gary Dale Kirks.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Bushong Kirks, whom he married March 21, 1983; three sons, Timmy Kirks and Matt Kirks, both of Murray, Ky., and David Kirks, Davenport, Fla.; three daughters, Delena Clements, Black Rock, Dorothy Goforth, Imboden, and Vanessa Kirks, Ravenden; two brothers, Wade Kirks and Larry Kirks, both of Kentucky; and 16 grandchildren.

Graveside service is Thursday at 1 p.m. at Opposition Cemetery, near Ravenden, with Bro. Frank Casillas officiating. Bryan Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be William Goforth, Timmy Kirks, Larry Kirks, Matt Kirks, David Kirks and Johnny Nunnally. Honorary pallbearer will be Wade Kirks.

Terry Mack Latture

Terry Mack Latture, 70, of Walnut Ridge, died Nov. 29, 2015, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Sept. 18, 1945, in Searcy, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a welder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Maureen Shoffner Latture.

Survivors include a brother, Ray Latture, Walnut Ridge; and two aunts, Evelyn Kurts, South Carolina, and Freda Butler, Oklahoma.

Erma Rider

Erma Lee Roberts Rider, 82, of Portia, died Nov. 29, 2015, at her home.

Born March 5, 1933, at O’Kean, she was the daughter of Thomas Wesley and Jewel Stone Roberts. She was a member of the Lawrence County China Painting Club and Crossroad Baptist Church in Portia.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. Roberts and an infant brother, Harold Roberts; and a sister, Thelma Mashburn.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jesse Carl Rider; a son, Mike Rider and wife Joyce, Hoxie; a daughter, Carla Garvin and husband Wesley, Portia; two brothers, Jesse Roberts, Walnut Ridge, and Butch Roberts, Jonesboro; four sisters, Norma Tillman and Dorothy Russell, both of Walnut Ridge, Linda Milgrim, Black Rock, and Judy Bridges, Pocahontas; four grandchildren, Allysa, Jessie, Magan and Garrett; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral is today at 10 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home with Wesley Garvin and James Mashburn officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Elwanda Taylor

Elwanda "Wanda" Taylor, 82, of Sycamore, Ill., formerly of Dwight, Ill., died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Oct. 13, 1933, in Strawberry, she was the daughter of Robert Lee and Bessie (Miller) Smith. Wanda married Calvin Taylor on Oct. 9, 1987.

Elwanda worked for GTE in Genoa, Ill., for 20 years, and the Dwight School District after her retirement. She loved playing bingo, performing with her singing group, volunteering at hospice and doing word puzzles. Most of all, she loved being with her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her dog, Peppy.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Mel) Anderson of Guam, Randy Anderson of DeKalb, Ill., Connie (Chuck) Christensen of Sycamore, Ill., Joyce (Paul) Russo of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Tom (Jane) Anderson of San Bendito, Texas; grandchildren, Jason and Shawn Anderson, Matthew (Kristen) and Ashley Christensen, Caitlyn (fiancé, Mike) Russo, and Lauren and Blake Anderson; great-grandchildren, Elise Christensen and Alexandra Anderson; and her four stepchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Taylor in 2010; her parents; a son, Roger; many siblings; and the father of her children, William "Bill" Anderson.

Funeral is today at 10 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, Ill., with Rev. Dr. Martha Brunell of Mayfield Congregational Church in Sycamore, Ill., officiating. Private burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Dwight, Ill.
