Multi-inch rains hit LawCo.

Multiple inches of rain over the weekend led to more flooding and road issues. The rain, which started Friday and continued through Monday, dropped between four and five inches of water on Lawrence County according to Weather Underground. This rain caused new damage as well as delays on road repairs still underway from the Nov. 16-18 multi-inch rain.

Some road closures have been necessary during the rains but County Judge Dale Freeman said there haven't been very many washouts.

"The rain has been slow and that causes more potholes," Freeman said. He added that potholes present their own set of challenges as they tend to hold water longer than other types of road damage.

As of Monday, all county roads had been made passable. Freeman had six road graders active on the western side of the county on Monday as the rain let up to make what progress they could in the wet conditions. He added that road repairs should go fairly quick when it dries up.
