Angel Tree dates slated
The Lawrence County Angel Tree Committee recently met to organize dates for this year's Angel Tree. This is Lawrence County's effort to provide children from low-income families with gifts for the holiday.
The committee will accept applications for children's names to be placed on the angel tree through Dec. 4. The application must be filled out by the child's parents or guardians and can be obtained at the Lawrence County Department of Health and Human Services; from the Lawrence County Clerk's Office or at the Lawrence County Public Housing Agency.
Second-grade students from Walnut Ridge and Hoxie schools will meet at the Lawrence County Courthouse at noon on Tuesday to start the season off by singing carols and decorating. Everyone is welcome.
Angels from the tree can be obtained at this time and will be available at the courthouse until Friday, Dec. 11. The gifts need to be returned to the County Clerk's Office by Dec. 14.
Gifts will be passed out on Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Lawrence County Meeting Room, next to the library.
"The citizens of Lawrence County have always been extremely generous in this activity," Debi Hart, committee member, said.
Anyone who would like to be a part of the Lawrence County Angel Tree Committee can contact County Clerk Tina Stowers or Hart at the Lawrence County Public Housing Agency.
