Hoxie sets new City Hall hours
After some research on citizen traffic during City Hall hours, Mayor Lanny Tinker discovered that more people came during the lunch hour when the office was closed than in the 4-5 p.m. work hour.
This has prompted him to change office hours to 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and remain open during the lunch hour. The hours are to go into effect today.
Tinker said they would have a track phone in place to forward calls to after hours in case of emergencies.
Also at the meeting, the council:
approved $300 end-of-year bonuses for city employees.
appointed Tinker to the Public Water Authority after John VanKirk submitted his two weeks notice to the city of Hoxie.
approved an agreement with Professional Credit Management, Inc. to collect on certain debts owed to the city. The city would get 40 percent of whatever it collected but only about 13-percent of what is owed is expected to be paid back.
discussed the need for a written policy on how to handle any wrecks involving city vehicles, including appropriate procedure and documentation of the accident. Tinker said he will have something prepared for the council's review.
approved a $10 per copy fee on fire reports.
heard from Fire Chief Chris Ditto that he is prepared to start performing building inspections for the city but requires state certification for plumbing and electrical.
approved an amendment to the general zoning code changing certain property located in the Beloate's Addition from R-1 to R-MH on its third and final reading.
passed a resolution to promote career readiness certification for graduating students and those already in the workforce.
