Strong second half

The Walnut Ridge Bobcats roared to life in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit and defeat the East Poinsett County Warriors 27-14 in the finale of the football regular season Friday night at Lepanto.
Walnut Ridge finished the regular season with a 6-4 overall record, and 5-2 in 2A-3 conference play. The Bobcats qualified for the 2A State Playoffs as the fourth-place team from 2A-3 and will travel to Des Arc for their first-round game on Friday.
Mustangs claim share of title
James Johnson and Diamani Davis combined for over 300 yards rushing as the Hoxie Mustangs stampeded past the Manila Lions 34-6 in senior high football action Friday night at Manila.
The win clinched a share of the 3A-3 Conference title for the Mustangs for the third straight year.
Seeds set for WBC tourney
The seeds have been announced for the 57th annual Williams Baptist College high school basketball tournament, which begins on Saturday, Nov. 28. Defending champion Pocahontas has been selected as the top seed for the girl's set, while Westside claims top honors in the boy's section.
This year's tournament has two new additions with the Bay senior girls and Rector senior boys joining the field.
S-H teams beat Viola
Sloan-Hendrix's senior high basketball teams earned lopsided victories over the Viola Longhorns Thursday night at Imboden.
The Sloan-Hendrix senior girls overcame a first-quarter deficit and went on to rout the Lady Longhorns 40-22.
Hillcrest falls to Calico Rock
Hillcrest hosted Calico Rock in 1A-2 North Conference basketball action Thursday at Lynn.
The Pirates took control of the senior boys contest early and went on to defeat Hillcrest 52-40.
