The two municipalities of College City and Walnut Ridge have discussed and are looking to bring a proposed consolidation to the vote of the people.
College City Mayor Paul Rhoads and Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp have had several meetings regarding the topic of consolidation.

Williams Baptist College has announced an estate gift that is expected to be the largest in the school's history. WBC President Tom Jones announced Tuesday that Jonesboro resident and Williams alumnus Clifford Toney left the bulk of his estate to the college.

The announcement was made at the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, which is taking place this week in Hot Springs. Toney passed away at the age of 57 in August, following a lengthy illness.
Lawrence County voters will go to the polls on Tuesday to consider a half-percent sales tax to fund the building and maintenance of a new jail for Lawrence County.
Thatcher to run for sheriff
David "Richy" Thatcher of Walnut Ridge has announced his intention to be a candidate for Lawrence County Sheriff in the 2016 Democratic Primary.
