Bobcats defeat Midland, 33-6
A four-touchdown performance from Luke Harper highlighted the Walnut Ridge Bobcats' 33-6 football victory over the Midland Mustangs Friday night at Sexton Field.
Walnut Ridge scored the only points of the first quarter on Wesley Friend's six-yard run with 10:35 to play in the period.
Mustangs rout Corning, 41-8
Hoxie scored 29 points in the second quarter and went on to rout the Corning Bobcats 41-8 in 3A-3 football action Friday night at Crider Field.
The Mustangs led just 6-0 at the end of the first quarter on Diamani Davis's 11-yard run.
Lady Cats advance to state
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats wrapped up regular season play last week with matches against Westside, Harrisburg and Trumann. The Lady Cats were runners-up in 3A Northeast Conference play and advanced to the 3A State Tournament at Piggott. Walnut Ridge was scheduled to play Alpena at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Lady Mustangs beat Cave City
Hoxie's senior high volleyball team closed out the regular season with a non-conference win at Cave City on Oct. 19. Hoxie defeated the Cavewomen 25-8, 25-22, 25-11 to conclude the regular season with a 21-2 overall record. The Lady Mustangs had already wrapped up 3A Northeast Conference play as undefeated champions, with a 12-0 league record.
Stober named as new WBC coach
Williams Baptist College has announced the hiring of Emily Stober as the next head coach of the Lady Eagles volleyball squad. Stober spent four years as a player for WBC, and she is currently serving as the team's assistant coach.
