AEDC director visits LawCo.

Mike Preston, who is serving as director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission under Gov. Asa Hutchinson's administration, was in Lawrence County on Friday.

He met with regional and local leaders at The Studio in downtown Walnut Ridge for a lunch, telling those gathered he was honored when asked to head up Arkansas' economic development team.

Jumpstart Shelter agreement approved

The Walnut Ridge City Council authorized Mayor Charles Snapp to enter into an agreement with Jumpstart to lease the former Gateway Animal Clinic building for use as a new animal shelter.

Containers discussed at Hoxie meeting

As requested by several Hoxie citizens, city attorney Bobby Gibson attended the Oct. 13 city council meeting to discuss the current situation regarding shipping containers in the city.

Crowned 2015 State Fair Queen

Holly Looney of Walnut Ridge was crowned as the 2015 Arkansas State Fair Queen on Saturday night in Little Rock.
