Walnut Ridge falls to Earle
The Earle Bulldogs scored 18 unanswered points in the second quarter on their way to posting a 34-14 win over the Walnut Ridge Bobcats in 2A-3 senior football action Friday night at Earle.
The game was scoreless after one quarter, but the Bulldogs took a 6-0 lead on Gerry Bohannon's three-yard keeper early in the second period. Bohannon passed to Marcus Brown for a 28-yard touchdown to give Earle a 12-0 lead at the 8:50 mark in the quarter. Richard Merrit broke loose for a 44-yard touchdown run with four minutes to play in the half, and the Bulldogs carried an 18-0 lead into halftime.
Mustangs fall in close battle with Rivercrest
Rivercrest's Kessler Pierce passed to Hank Hill for a nine-yard touchdown with 21 seconds to play to give the Colts a 48-42 win over the Hoxie Mustangs in 3A-3 Conference showdown in Wilson.
Rivercrest took a 7-0 lead on Pierce's 75-yard pass to Peyton Adams with 6:41 to play in the opening quarter.
Lady Mustangs record victories
Hoxie's senior high volleyball team remained undefeated in 3A Northeast Conference by defeating Piggott in a hard-fought five-set match at Piggott on Oct. 6.
WR volleyball has winning weeks
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats had a successful week on the volleyball court, defeating Cedar Ridge and Ridgefield Christian in 3A Northeast Conference play, and winning a non-conference match against Pocahontas.
