Business Women's Week,
BPW Coffee is next week
The Walnut Ridge Business and Professional Women and Business and Professional Women's Foundation have announced that the annual National Business Women's Week will be next week, Sunday through Saturday.
Throughout the week, the local BPW will host activities for members, as well as the annual BPW Coffee open to the community on Thursday, Oct. 22.
The week offers communities, companies and organizations an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of working women and companies that have made strides toward improving working women's lives in their communities.
"NBWW is a significant way to observe and raise awareness about women in business and women-owned businesses," said, Karen Williams, Walnut Ridge local club president. "We will celebrate the week with several local activities."
Members will attend church on Sunday morning with club president, Karen Williams. A kick-off breakfast will be held on Monday morning and the local Woman of the Year will be revealed. Local member, Peggy Williams, will host a Ladies' Night Out at her house on Tuesday night. Members will then attend chapel at Williams Baptist College on Wednesday morning then enjoy lunch together in the campus cafeteria.
A highlight of the week is the annual BPW Coffee where guests enjoy a wide array of breakfast and brunch type foods. The Coffee will again be held at the Walnut Ridge United Methodist Church from 9-11 a.m. There will also be a bake sale in conjunction with the Coffee with proceeds going to the scholarship fund.
Arkansas Business and Professional Women's organization, with which Walnut Ridge BPW is included, provides members with professional development programs, networking, participation in grassroots activism, and opportunities to support scholarships to deserving women. The history of this organization is rich in promoting equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information. The Walnut Ridge organization also works to encourage women in this area to get involved to help raise awareness for all that women have worked toward accomplishing for a better business world for women.
Walnut Ridge BPW meets on the third Tuesday each month at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in the Administrative Conference Room. The meeting begins with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a presentation from a guest speaker on informative topics of interest to women of all ages. Annual membership dues are currently $30 per year.
