Beatles festival grows in success

The fifth annual Beatles at the Ridge festival is in the books, and the event's success continues to impress both attendees and organizers.

Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp, who also serves as chair of the event committee, said Saturday started out slow with surrounding bad weather.

WR citizens cry out against zoning changes

Several Walnut Ridge citizens spoke out against rezoning properties in the city for apartments during Monday night's city council meeting. The citizens present said it would lower property values of surrounding homes and cause increased traffic and safety concerns for the neighborhoods.

Era ends with retirement of Victor Clark

Friday, Sept. 18, marked the ending of an era and a record that few, if any, have matched. Victor Clark of Portia retired on that day after a 70-year career at Clark General Contractors, Inc. in Walnut Ridge.

Stamp dedication ceremony connects Elvis to the Beatles

A special stamp-dedication ceremony was held Friday morning in Walnut Ridge to celebrate the release of the Elvis Presley Forever stamp. The ceremony, which kicked off the 2015 Beatles at the Ridge Festival, was the first dedication of the stamp in Arkansas.
