Hoxie finishes nearly
80k in paving projects

The city of Hoxie recently completed $79,004.63 worth of paving projects, which have been ongoing over the past few months.

Roads that received overlays include: Jones Avenue, Southwest Randolph, Southwest Gipson to Memphis, Southwest Lindsey from Lawrence to Randolph, Southwest Case from Lawrence to Alice, Brewer Drive from Northeast Carolina to city limits and Southeast Cherry between Southeast Hayes and Pecan.

The street department has also filled multiple potholes and completed several patches. Additional potholes will be address throughout the remainder of the year, but funds for overlay projects have been depleted. Mayor Lanny Tinker said the city should qualify for additional Arkansas Highway Transportation Department State Aid in 2016.

"I am proud of our street department's effort to work with a contractor making our paving dollars go as far as possible. Under Kenny Jones' leadership this summer we got real value with our paving dollars," Tinker wrote in The Mayor's Report.
