Football Mustangs proud
of new turf field
"We're so proud. It's just phenomenal," said Tom Sears, head football coach of the Hoxie Mustangs, regarding the new artificial turf project on Hoxie's Crider Field that was completed in early August.
Sears shared that rains "pretty well flooded" their practice field and that practicing on the main field would result in tearing it up if rain-soaked.
Lady Cats have exciting start to season
The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats opened the 2015 volleyball season with an exciting five-set victory over Newport's Lady Greyhounds on Aug. 24 at Newport.
Lady Mustangs open play with wins
Hoxie's volleyball teams opened the 2015 season with several matches last week.
Sears shares Mustang overview
Tom Sears, in his 17th year at the helm of the Hoxie Mustang football team, gave an overview of his team and the forthcoming season at Tuesday's meeting of the Lawrence County Rotary Club.
The senior high Mustang team consists of 34 players, while the junior high team has 37 players. "We have two really good groups," he said.
