WR rezones land for apartments

During a special city council meeting on Aug. 25, Walnut Ridge Aldermen voted to rezone a swath of land just north of Robin Lane to allow the property to be used for a new subdivision.

The subdivision is hoped to be split out into 28 lots, according to Mayor Charles Snapp. He said plans are to build multi-unit houses with up to four apartments each. The team behind the subdivision have expressed interest in building two and three bedroom apartments but plans are still being developed on the project, which is expected to be completed in three phases starting as early as October.

Access to the subdivision will most likely be constructed at Northeast Second and Robin.

Also at the meeting, the council approved a concrete project at the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport. The project will be fully funded through grant money.
