Plans for new jail to be presented

The SouthBuild Team commissioned to develop plans for a new county jail complex is in the county this week collecting data and developing plans for a proposed jail.

The basic design and budget will be ready by the end of week, according to representatives from Spirit Architecture and Smith-Doyle Contractors, Inc., two of the firms that make up the SouthBuild Team.

Grants awarded to replace
low-water bridges in LawCo.

Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services recently received a letter stating two mitigation grants applied for in late May have been awarded to the county.

The grants will be used to fund two low-water bridge replacements, one on Lawrence Road 203 in Imboden and the other on Lawrence 267 in Smithville.

Archives receives Sellers collection

The Northeast Arkansas Regional Archives in Powhatan recently received a donation from the Sellers family of Barney Sellers' personal archive of photographs he shot in Arkansas.
