Rodery ~ Edmondson

Steve and Brenda Rodery of Marion have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Shelby Kay Rodery, to Payton Moore Edmondson, son of Scott and Andrea Edmondson of Springdale.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Garland and Derral Childers and the late Floyd and Opal Rodery.

She graduated from Marion High School in 2009 and earned her bachelor's and master's in communications sciences and disorders at the University of Central Arkansas. Shelby currently works as a speech therapist at Westside Consolidated School District.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Weldon and Edwina Peters of Springdale and Jean Edmondson of Walnut Ridge and the late Bill Edmondson.

He is a 2009 Highland High School graduate and has his bachelors degree in physical education from UCA. Payton is the head coach for girls' basketball and softball at Walnut Ridge High School.

The couple will exchange vows in a formal, double-ring ceremony on Sept. 5, 2015, at 6 p.m. at Alda's Magnolia Hill in Little Rock. Pastor Shane Peters will officiate the ceremony.

Wanda Kay Allen

Wanda Kay Allen, 55, of Walnut Ridge, died July 18, 2015, at Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab.

Born Sept. 8, 1959, she was the daughter of Robert and Lois Midgett Needham. She was a full-time mother.

Survivors include two sons, Zach Allen, Pocahontas, and Shaun Allen, Hoxie; two brothers, Robert Needham, Hoxie, and Jimmy Needham, Hanover, Pa.; three sisters, Barbra Slatton, Poplar Bluff, Mo., Gail Householder, Walnut Ridge, and Janice Bunton, Conway; and a grandson, Gatlin Allen, Pocahontas.

Visitation was Monday at House-Gregg Funeral Home. Private burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Jerrell Belew

Walter Jerrell Belew, 79, of Jonesboro, formerly of Portia, died July 16, 2015, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Nov. 6, 1935, in the Lesterville community, he was the son of Walter and Flossie Webb Belew. He lived most of his life in Lawrence County and was a 1953 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. He served in the Arkansas National Guard and was a former deputy sheriff in Pulaski County. He owned and operated Belew's Used Cars in Walnut Ridge and Portia, and served as mayor of Portia in the 1990s. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and the Sonlighters gospel quartet.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Tommie Jean Williams.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Belew and wife Anita, Jonesboro, and Steve Belew and wife Mary, Saltillo, Miss.; three daughters, Teresa Sproles and husband John, Little Rock, Rebecca Burrier and husband Mike, Leachville, and Carrie Fraley and husband Scott, Earle; a sister, Tressie Mossburg, Spartanburg, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church in Portia with Revs. Bobby Burnett and Mike Frost officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

Pallbearers were Scott Fraley, Mike Burrier, Chris Applegate, Jonathon Nettles and Gary Mossburg.

Leona Kathleen Doyle

Leona Kathleen Decker Doyle, 79, of Mountain View, died July 17, 2015, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Born June 29, 1936, in Imboden, she was the daughter of Oscar and Alma Ward Decker. She attended Imboden High School and was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Bill Doyle; three brothers, Frank Decker, Oscar Decker Jr. and Bill Decker; and a sister, Katie Groves.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce Doyle, Russell Doyle and James Doyle; three daughters, Cheryl Doyle Shifflett, Bonita Doyle Given and Cynthia Doyle; a sister, Delora Fleming; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cox Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

James Fuller

James Odell "Jim" Fuller, 60, of Imboden, died July 20, 2015, at his home.

Born April 12, 1955, in Bainbridge, Md., he served in the Army and the Navy during Operation Desert Storm and was retired from the Navy. He was of the Christian belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Hannah Bridges Fuller.

Survivors include a son, Dakota Fuller, Chesapeake, Va.; two daughters, Leah Davis, Brookland, and Caitlin Fuller, Danville, Va.; three brothers, Roy Fuller (Gaye Huntsman), Fancy Gap, Va., Donald (Joyce) Fuller, Spokane, Wash., and David (Paula) Fuller, Bartlett, Tenn.; and a granddaughter, Mackenzie Davis.

Funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clover Bend Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday, one hour prior to the service.

Linda Mae Glenn

Linda Mae Glenn, 71, of Fisher, died July 20, 2015, at her home.

Born May 10, 1944, in Hickory Ridge, she was a retired trucking dispatcher and a member of Fisher United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buster Herschel and Eva Mae Leverette Bush; and four sisters, Erma Jean Horst, Hazel Berdine Duncan, Shirley Emma Bush and Laura Belle “June" Gray.

Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Glenn Campbell, Walnut Ridge, and Sheri Glenn Aaron and Nita Jo Glenn, both of Fisher; a brother, Buster "Sonny" Bush, Fisher; two sisters, Hope Crossley, Fisher, and Joyce McAilster, Mountainburg; four grandchildren, Joshua Earl Chambers, Bobby Scott Glenn, Ashley Mae Glenn and Justin Anthony Cain Aaron; three great-grandchildren, Kayden Scott Glenn, Mattox Brighton Glenn and Paisley Lynn Chambers; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own.

Funeral is Thursday at 2 p.m. at Fisher United Methodist Church with Revs. Dany Parlow and Jessie James officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery at Hickory Ridge under the direction of Kernodle Funeral Home of Wynne.

Visitation is today from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Sheila Marie Jackson

Sheila Marie Jackson, 42, of Pocahontas, died July 14, 2015.

Born Jan. 17, 1973, she was of the Pentecostal belief.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry Hubert and Edith Shirlene Nelson Webb.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Junior Swartz, Lynn, Jonathan Allen Swartz, Walnut Ridge, and Paul Eugene Jackson Jr., Black Rock; five brothers, Tony Webb, Ravenden, Edward Webb, Imboden, Donald Webb and Keith Webb, both of Pocahontas, and Gary Webb, Black Rock; and two grandchildren, Bentley Michael Swartz and Emily Brooke Swartz.

Funeral was Saturday at noon at Cox Funeral Home with Eric Moffett officiating. Burial was in Manning Cemetery near Walnut Ridge.

Curtis Leroy Polston

Curtis Leroy Polston, 63, of Batesville, died July 17, 2015, at a local hospital.

Born Dec. 7, 1951, at Caraway, he was a retired carpenter. He also worked for ConAgra Foods in Batesville for several years and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Retha Polston; four brothers, Jerrell Polston, Cledis Polston, Jack Adams and Dwight Polston; and two sisters, Linda Randolph and Glenda Polston.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Polston; a son, Matthew Polston, Batesville; a daughter, Seretha Polston, Batesville; two brothers, Jerry Polston, Springdale and Alfred Polston, Strawberry; a sister, Brenda Wright, Strawberry; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Qualls Funeral Home in Batesville with Bro. Orville Berg officiating. Burial was in Dry Creek Cemetery near Lynn.

Pallbearers were Randy Polston, Billy Adams, Denny Polston, Richard Randolph, Richard Reynolds and Nathan Flanigan. Honorary pallbearers were nephews: Ronnie Elms, Ralph Biggers, James Childers, Alan Jackson, Robert Rackley, Kyle Rackley, Danny Adams, John Reynolds, Alan Adams, Kenny Polston, Sonny Polston, Robert Randolph, Roger Randolph and all of his other nephews.

Jerry Dean Wallin

Jerry Dean Wallin, 78, of Walnut Ridge, died July 19, 2015.

Born June 28, 1937, in Egypt, he was the son of Harry and Myrtle Escue Wallin. He was a farmer and a member of the Hoxie Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Ian Hoskins.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Rudd Wallin; two daughters, Renee Privett, Weiner, and Chandra Householder, Alamo, Tenn.; a sister, Rosalie Statler, Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Ashley Hoskins, Amanda McCoy, Kara McQuay and Clayton Ruesewald; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral is today at 11 a.m. at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home. Burial will be in Weiner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Alls, Brennan Alls, Tyler Alls, Todd Statler, Gene Davis and Harvey Reid. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Henry and Jack Rice.
