The Times Dispatch's 23rd Summertime Photo Contest is underway, and July 29 is the deadline for entries.

This year, categories have been set for the contest, and those entering photos are asked to designate which category they want their photo to be judged in. Photographers are reminded that the judges generally prefer candid photos rather than posed photos.

Murphy to retire after
47 years in healthcare

Shirley Murphy has announced her plans to retire from a 47-year career in healthcare. Currently serving as clinic manager over the Family Medical Center and Imboden Clinic at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, she began her career with the hospital in July 1995, when the hospital purchased the Ralph Joseph Clinic.

School filings end with one race

The one-week filing period for school board candidates ended at noon Tuesday and resulted in one race in the county.

Haven's Road is a cross-country dirt bike adventure to raise awareness and funds for children with special needs and their families. Inspired by his daughter, Haven Blu McCormack, John McCormack has taken on the challenge of the Trans American Trail.
