in Alicia, Minturn
The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for improvements to roadways in Lawrence County.
The purpose of the project is to resurface 1.3 miles of a roadway in Alicia and nine-tenths of a mile in Minturn.
Streets to receive repairs in Alicia include: Second Street, from Vine to Main; Third Street, from Maple to Vine; Alicia Street, extending south from West Elm; Cleveland Street, from Hwy. 67 to Old Hwy. 57; Elm Street, North Alicia to North Second; Harrison Street, Hwy. 67 to Old Hwy. 57; Hickory Street, South Alicia to Third; Indiana Street, Hwy. 67 to Old Hwy 57; and Vine Street, South Alicia to Third.
Streets to receive repairs in Minturn include: Second Street, from Laurel to Main; Third, extends north from Laurel; Magnolia/Narrow Gauge Road/ County Road 716, extends east from Northeast First; and Main Street, from Second to Hwy. 67.
Atlas Asphalt, Inc. of Batesville was awarded the contract at $282,214.94.
This project is part of the State Aid City Streets Program approved by lawmakers in 2011 and voters in 2012. This program provides $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist cities with projects selected by a nine-member panel of Arkansas mayors.
Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. The project should be complete this summer.
