Tucker returns to WBC
Former Williams Baptist College softball player and assistant coach Laura Tucker has been hired as head coach of the Lady Eagles program. Tucker takes over a softball team that has won four conference championships in the last decade and finished as high as fourth place in the NAIA National Championship.
"I am very excited to hire a Williams graduate. I think she will fit in great on our campus and will represent our institution well," said Director of Athletics Jeff Rider.
Tucker was a member of the coaching staff that finished in fourth place in the NAIA in 2013, and she played for the 2012 National Tournament team, earning First Team All-Conference and Academic All-Conference honors.
"I am excited to be back at Williams. I really feel that WBC is my home and I am excited to get the opportunity to continue the winning tradition of this program," said Tucker.
She returns to WBC after spending the last two years at Colorado Christian University as a graduate assistant coach. Tucker says her time at WBC and CCU have advanced her skills in coaching, mentoring, community service, recruiting, scouting and fundraising.
"I truly believe God gave me a passion for softball so that I could use it as a platform to serve Him. From my experience, softball has been used to teach many life lessons and overall character building," added Tucker.
The new coach said she is eager to work with the Lady Eagles' players and fans.
"I believe we will build on the WBC winning tradition. I am very thankful for your support and look forward to a successful year."
Tucker holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Williams. She is the daughter of Billy and Tonya Tucker of Beebe.
