Josiah Scott Rindels

Rev. Ryan and Janai (Powell) Rindels of Mill Valley, Calif., have announced the birth of their first child, a son, born Jan. 26, 2015, in Santa Rosa, Calif.

The baby weighed nine pounds, one ounce, and has been named Josiah Scott Rindels.

Grandparents are Rev. Brent and Linda Powell of Powhatan and Dr. and Mrs. Mark Rindels of Grass Valley, Calif.

Great-grandparents are Alyene Jones of Powhatan and Forrest City, Dr. and Mrs. Kerry Powell of Newport, Tenn., Rosie Cotton of Wiemar, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rindels of Gillette, Wyo.

Capps ~ Powell

Steve and Becky Capps of Lynn have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Rebekah Lynn Capps, to Harrison Lee Powell, son of Brian and Melissa Powell of Lynn.

The bride-elect is a 2015 Hillcrest High School graduate. She plans to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro in the fall, and will major in sociology.

The prospective groom is a 2015 graduate of Hillcrest High School and also plans to attend ASU in the fall. He will major in civil engineering.

The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, June 20, at 2 p.m. at Full Gospel Church in Black Rock. A reception will be held immediately after the ceremony in the church's fellowship hall.

All family and friends are invited to attend.

Irene Ruth Binkley

Irene Ruth Binkley, 90, of Ravenden, died June 8, 2015, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 7, 1924, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of John "Poppa" and Velma "Momma" Murphy Warner. She was a retired tailor and was of the Christian belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Binkley; a sister, Delois "Aunt D" Twombly; and a brother, John Warner Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Rickie MacAdam, Ravenden, and Sandra Markham, Hoxie; a son, Miles Binkley, Arcadia, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Robert Hawkins, Chula Vista, Calif., Curtis Hawkins, Pocahontas, Jennifer Flowers and Rachel Markham, both of Jonesboro, Josh Binkley, Sherwood, Ore., David Binkley, Walnut Ridge, and Alyssa Harl, Farmington, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren; Meagan, Timothy, Chelsea and Robert Hawkins Jr., all of Chula Vista, Calif., Alex and Carter Binkley, both of Sherwood, Ore., and Ayden Binkley, Walnut Ridge; and a great-great-grandchild, Addison Hawkins, Chula Vista, Calif.

Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Warner Allen, Robert Hawkins and Jennifer Flowers officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Robert Hawkins, Curtis Hawkins, Josh Binkley, David Binkley, Scott Harl and Chris Flowers. Honorary pallbearers will be Martin Allen, Reggie Allen, Rick MacAdam, Jerry Warner, Robert Hawkins Jr., Carter Binkley, Alex Binkley and Ayden Binkley.

Charles Keith Geurin

Charles Keith Geurin, 80, of Lynn, died June 5, 2015, at his home.

Born Sept. 18, 1934, at Denton, he was the son of Kenneth and Charletta Davis Geurin.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the aircraft carrier The Ticonderoga. He served as Commander of the Charles Walker Harris American Legion Post #129 in Lynn. He was a member of Saffell Missionary Baptist Church, where he had served as song leader for 52 years.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Verda Mae Runyan Geurin, whom he married Dec. 19, 1958; a daughter, Debbie Smith and husband Terry, Annieville; a son, Trent Geurin and wife Patricia, Lynn; a brother, Darrell Geurin and wife Annie, Lynn; a sister, Elaine Lynch and husband Virgil, Imboden; six grandchildren, Amanda Mathis, Aaron Britton, Heather Geurin, April Morgan, Trevor Geurin and Miranda Geurin; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral was Monday at 2 p.m. at the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Etheridge officiating. Burial was in Dry Creek Cemetery at Lynn under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Daniel Lawson, Dillon Lawson, Jeffery Coles, David Lee Tidwell, Aaron Britton and Trevor Geurin. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Johnson, Cliff Wiese, Rodney Clayton, Russ Amos, Glen Blevins, Leroy Holm, R.A. Wright, George Gray, Carl Durham and Randell Gawf.

Phillip Stanley Henry

Phillip Stanley Henry, 66, of Ozark, Mo., formerly of Walnut Ridge, died June 6, 2015, at Manor Health Care in Springfield, Mo.

Born Feb. 5, 1949, in Jonesboro, he worked for Henry's and Cable Television System in Walnut Ridge and Hoxie, Nex-Net Computers & Internet, ARKMO Computers, Rolling DJ and Silver Dollar City in Branson for many years.

He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Henry; his parents, Andrew Jackson "A.J." and Dorothy Mae Wilson Henry; and his stepmother, Alice Janelle Henry.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Hinds Henry, whom he married July 22, 1978; two daughters, Jennifer Stuck and husband Herb, Ravenden, and Julie Lentz and husband J.J., Ozark, Mo.; a brother, Terry Henry and wife Cathy, Walnut Ridge; two stepbrothers, Vernon Henry and wife Suzann, Paragould, and Stanley Henry and wife Lisa, Denton, Texas; two stepsisters, Deborah Pace and husband Dickie and Rhonda Thompson and husband Keith, all of Monette; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Lloyd Clark and Josh Dement officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Gardens in Pocahontas.

Pallbearers were Johnny Martin, Dave Faletti, John Goad, Trivs Moore, Greg Rece and Tom White.

Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.

Willma Gene Hickman

Willma Gene Davis Hickman, 79, of Imboden, died June 2, 2015, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born Sept. 16, 1935, in Bay, she was the daughter of Ray and Bessie Griffith Davis. She taught elementary school at Bay for two years and at Sloan-Hendrix for 35 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Westridge Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Hickman, whom she married Nov. 29, 1955; and a sister, Lillian Davis Richardson.

Survivors include a son, Gordon Hickman and wife Sharon, Imboden; two daughters, Jonna Kincade, Imboden, and her fiancé Jim Hacker, Batesville, and Leslie Hickman-Fowler and husband Tommy, Jonesboro; two sisters, Alfreda Davis, Jonesboro, and Loretta Hill, DuQuion, Ill.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home with Mitch Walton officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery at Jonesboro.

Grandsons and family members served as pallbearers.

Ruger Cole Lasiter

Ruger Cole Lasiter, infant son of Jeff and Sierra Lasiter of Walnut Ridge, was born on June 2 and died June 5, 2015, at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Kimber Rea-Ann Lasiter; and grandparents, Jeff Lasiter, and Linden and Jennie Finney.

A memorial service will be held at Dry Creek Cemetery at a later date. House-Gregg Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Sherman Leo Mashburn

Sherman Leo "Flintstone" Mashburn, 70, of Evening Shade, died June 4, 2015, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Born Sept. 7, 1944, at Clover Bend, he was a truck driver and a member of Liberty Full Gospel Church in Cave City.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Bonnie Sue; his parents, Sherman "Shorty" and Thelma Roberts Mashburn; a brother, Jerry Mashburn; an infant sister, Victoria; his grandparents, Andy and Lillie Mashburn and Wes and Jewel Roberts; and a grandson, Asa Cook.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Sander Mashburn, whom he married June 30, 1995, in Jasper, Texas; three sons, Jack Mashburn and wife Aimee, Jacksonville, Fla., Terry Mashburn and wife Rie, Walnut Ridge, and Joe Mashburn and wife Kathy, Orange, Texas; three daughters, Natalie Lovelady and husband Kim, Walnut Ridge, Patty Cook and husband Adrian, Black Rock, and Amanda Boyd, Livingston, Texas; seven sisters, Carolyn Hill and husband Dennis, Evening Shade, Kathy Alberta, Powhatan, Wanda McDaniel and husband Bobby and Jo Ann Alexander and husband Bill, all of Walnut Ridge, Debria Bishop and husband Norman, Cave City, Kaye Redding and husband Phil, Van Buren, and Rita Huddleston and husband Tommy, Jonesboro; three brothers, James Mashburn and wife Anita, Westside, John Mashburn and wife Mary, Sulphur Rock, and Gary Mashburn, Powhatan; a sister-in-law, Susie Mashburn, Lufkin, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home with Gary Mashburn and Ed Gregory officiating. Burial was in Powhatan Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kenny Mashburn, Jacob "Bubba" Mashburn, David "Lil Man" Mashburn, David Brannon, Jacob Brannon and Cain Cherry. Honorary pallbearers were David Wendt, James Mashburn, John Mashburn and Gary Mashburn.

Betty Jean McCarty

Betty Jean McCarty, 87, of Lima, Ohio, died May 31, 2015, at her home.

Born April 22, 1928, in the Mt. Vernon community near Black Rock, she was the daughter of Thomas Mose and Edith Beeler Robertson.

She was preceded in death by a son, Fred Hoffman; five sisters, Vela Brown, Maudie Rogers, Evelyn Flippo, Nettie Oldham and Dora McAlister; eight brothers, T.J., Doris, Vernon, Virgil, Shelby, Sherman, Bernard and Lavelle Robertson; and a granddaughter, Carla Hoffman.

Survivors include a son, Bob Hoffman Jr., Ohio; three daughters, Jan Hofacker and husband Gary, Debbie Helsar and husband Robert, and Darlene Bassett and husband Keith, all of Ohio; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral and burial were Friday in Lima, Ohio.

Francine Lyn Montgomery

Funeral services for Francine Lyn Montgomery, 68, of Roaring Springs, Texas, were held Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church with Raymond Mizelle officiating. Interment followed at the Roaring Springs Cemetery under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home of Matador, Texas. Lyn went home to her savior on May 28, 2015.

Lyn was born on Sept. 21, 1946, in Walnut Ridge to John Robert Montgomery and Nora Mae Collard Montgomery. Lyn grew up in Walnut Ridge and graduated as salutatorian of Walnut Ridge High School Class of 1964.

Prior to retiring to Motley County, Texas, in 2008, Lyn had lived in Salina, Kan., Ft. Knox, Ky., Bangkok, Thailand, Ft. Riley, Kan., Vicenza, Italy, Allen, Texas, Ft. Ord, Calif., El Paso and Indianapolis. Lyn was retired from the Department of Defense Accounting Services and had received her Bachelor's degree from Purdue University.

Lyn was a member of the Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church. Her faith led her to become an ordained minister through Brenda Dorman Ministries in March of 2015. Lyn fulfilled a dream by traveling to Israel in 2014. Lyn also loved to travel and visit family and friends.

Lyn is survived by her children, DeeAnna Lyn Goode and husband Todd of Mansfield, Texas, and Michael John Gaither and wife Laura of El Paso; her siblings, John Robert Montgomery Jr., of Bloomfield Colo., Penny Kline of Roaring Springs, Texas, and Vicki Limback of Alma, Mo.; four grandchildren, Roxanne Valdes, Cynthianne Valdes, Michael Portillo and Tristan Goode; and three great-grandchildren, Leo Torres, Justin Rodriguez and Iaasac Portillo.

She is preceded in death by her mother and daddy.
