Several people with Lawrence County ties have been making the news in recent days.

MyNewsLA.com's free daily email newsletter reports that Walnut Ridge native Lance Weir, a member of the Marine Corps Reserve, along with U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Justin Crabbe of Rancho Cucamonga were to be honored Tuesday night as the military heroes of the interleague game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Seattle Mariners at Dodger Stadium. The game was the Dodgers' seventh annual "Star Wars" Night. Pregame ceremonies will be themed to "Star Wars," and "Star Wars" characters will pose for pictures with fans.
