Corning edges WR
Corning scored four runs in the seventh inning to edge Walnut Ridge in non-conference softball action on March 30.
Corning jumped to an early 5-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and three in the second. Walnut Ridge charged back with six runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 6-5 lead.
Corning took a 7-6 lead with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Walnut Ridge answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to retake the lead at 8-7.
The score remained 8-7 until Corning broke through for four runs in the top of the seventh inning to take an 11-8 lead. Walnut Ridge battled back in the bottom of the inning, but could only manage one run before making the final out.
Whitney Rider had three hits and four RBIs for Walnut Ridge.
Baylee Haskins pitched a complete game and finished with 10 strikeouts.
