Taffar named Miss Greyhound

Sloan-Hendrix School held its first Miss Greyhound pageant recently at the Bill McCurley Gymnasium in Imboden and named Tahya Taffar, 17, as Miss Greyhound.

In addition, Taffar also received the talent award for her vocal performance of "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion. She is the daughter of Henry and Retha Taffar of Ravenden.

First runner-up was awarded to Brittany Gosha, 16, the daughter of Jason and Beth Gosha of Imboden.

Brittany Malone, 15, the daughter of Russell Malone and granddaughter of Gladys Malone, both of Imboden, was named second runner-up.

Miss Photogenic was presented to Mary Ponder, 18, daughter of Gene and Terrie Ponder of Imboden, and 14-year-old Haley Young, daughter of B.J. and Amber Young of Black Rock, was named Miss Congeniality.

Eleven girls competed in the pageant, which was hosted by the Sloan-Hendrix Drama Club. The pageant was open to girls in ninth through 12th grades and was emceed by Mike Miron and Makenzie Rone.
