S-H records wins on senior night
The Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds concluded their regular-season home schedules with victories over Hillcrest on senior night on Feb. 10.
The Sloan-Hendrix senior boys led Hillcrest 18-14 at the end of the first quarter, then went on a 25-7 run in the second period to extend the lead to 43-21 at halftime. The Greyhounds maintained control in the second half, leading 52-29 after three quarters, on their way to a 65-38 win.
For Sloan-Hendrix, Matt Wilkins had six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Tyler Murphy finished with six rebounds, six steals and three deflections. Malachi Gott had three steals and three deflections Colby Johnson and Carter Vance each had four assists, and Nathan DeShazo grabbed seven rebounds.
Dyllan Nunnally was high-point man for Hillcrest with 11 points.
The Lady Greyhounds used a strong finish to surge past the Lady Screamin'' Eagles for a 44-34 victory.
Hillcrest led 24-22 after three quarters, but Sloan-Hendrix outscored their visitors 22-10 in the final period to take the win.
Alyssa Nichols led the Lady Hounds with 14 points. Brittany Gosha had 13 points, including four three-pointers, and 10 rebounds. Brenda McCain scored 10 points, including three three-pointers.
Seniors recognized were: Zach Anderson, Gott, Paul Hein (who scored two points on a broken leg), Kyle Murphy, Levi Yarbro Mike Miron (manager) and Natalie Gipson.
