History preserver,
history makers

Evelyn Flippo's name is synonymous with the historic Powhatan Courthouse, the Powhatan Courthouse State Park and the Lawrence County Historical Society.

Mrs. Flippo, who died Sunday in Bentonville, was a vital part of the effort to restore the 1888 Powhatan Courthouse, which was completed in 1973. She was vital in the preservation of many of Lawrence County's oldest records, which are now housed in the Northeast Arkansas Regional Archives (NEARA) at Powhatan.
