The Children's Shelter
thankful for community
support at Christmas
Through the efforts of many throughout the community, The Children's Shelter was able to have a wonderful Christmas this year according to Tonjia Miles, administrator at the shelter.
Miles said that many groups, individuals and anonymous givers have provided presents for the children. "The whole community has made it a wonderful Christmas for the kids at the shelter this year."
Manus Welding raised $2,857 through its pork steak sale for the shelter. MacLean ESNA, located in Pocahontas, threw its annual Christmas party for the shelter, shutting down the factory and providing a meal and presents. Many local churches also sponsored Christmas parties for the children.
"We're just so thankful for everyone for their gracious giving and support of the shelter," Miles said. "The children had a very, very good Christmas this year."
