WR teams have split week
Walnut Ridge's senior high basketball teams each split a pair of games in 2A-2 Conference play last week. Tuckerman
The Bobcats hosted Tuckerman on Thursday. Walnut Ridge won the senior boys game 53-40, while Tuckerman topped the Lady Bobcats 58-47.
The boys contest was tied 13-13 after one quarter before Walnut Ridge moved out to a 26-20 lead in the second period. The Bobcats stretched the lead to double digits, 43-31, at the end of the third quarter.
Spencer Wilson led Walnut Ridge with 15 points, and 12 rebounds, and Luke Wall scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The victory improved the Bobcats to 4-2 in conference play and 6-3 overall.
Tuckerman's Lady Bulldogs got 29 points from Deria Ratliffe in downing the Lady Cats.
Walnut Ridge led the contest 12-7 after the first quarter, but a strong second period by Tuckerman lifted the Lady Bulldogs into a 22-18 lead. Tuckerman extended the lead to a dozen points, 33-21 at the end of the third quarter.
Allyson McQuay scored 22 points to lead the Lady Bobcats.
Tuckerman's junior girls defeated Walnut Ridge 29-24.
Walnut Ridge traveled to Judsonia to face White County Central on Dec. 16.
WCC outscored Walnut Ridge 12-6 in the fourth quarter to edge the Bobcats 46-43 in senior boys play.
Walnut Ridge led 9-7 after one quarter, 23-14 at halftime and 37-34 after three periods.
Kenzie Flippo led the Cats with 20 points, and Wilson finished with 14.
Walnut Ridge won a junior boys game 31-14.
Walnut Ridge's senior girls defeated White County 46-31 for their second conference win of the season.
The Lady Bobcats led 20-12 at halftime and 29-20 after three quarters.
McQuay led the Lady Cats with 13 points, while Baylee Burris added 11 points.
Walnut Ridge's junior high and seventh-grade teams traveled to Maynard on Dec. 15.
The Walnut Ridge junior boys defeated the Tigers 48-26, while Maynard won a junior girls game 55-32.
In seventh-grade action, the Walnut Ridge boys prevailed 22-16, while Maynard's girls earned a 14-3 win.
