S-H, Hoxie teams face off

Teams from Sloan-Hendrix and Hoxie faced off in high school basketball action at McCurley Gymnasium in Imboden on Dec. 9.

The Sloan-Hendrix senior boys defeated Hoxie 68-39, as four Greyhounds scored in double figures. Kyle Murphy led the way with 17 points, while Colby Johnson finished with 14 points and three steals. Matt Wilkins had 11 points, and Tyler Murphy added 10 points.

The Greyhounds led 16-11 at the end of the first quarter and then went on to outscore Hoxie 48-12 over the next two periods to lead 64-33 heading into the fourth quarter.

Noah Adamson and Tristan Sisco each had 10 points for the Mustangs.

Sloan-Hendrix won the junior boys game 51-31.


Sloan-Hendrix's senior girls were also victorious, defeating the Lady Mustangs 64-50.

The Lady Greyhounds led 29-21 at halftime and extended the lead to 48-32 after three quarters.

Alyssa Nichols recorded a double-double for Sloan-Hendrix with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Maegan Brown chipped in 10 points for the Lady Hounds.

Hoxie was led by Krista Vankirk's 19 points.

Hoxie's junior girls defeated Sloan-Hendrix 49-25.
