WR visited by bus tour owners
Walnut Ridge was one of the featured stops on the FAM Tour sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. The tour consisted of delegates from different countries looking for stops to add to their own bus tour itineraries.
Tracy Morales, Group Travel Manager, said "Several of the guests want to place Walnut Ridge on their itineraries moving forward. They feel like it is a unique city with a lot of interesting history."
While visiting the town on Saturday, delegates toured the Guitar Walk, Beatles Park, Imagine, The Dark Side, The Venue and the Argenta Collection at the Lawrence County Library.
"The success of this group's visit was the result of teamwork and dedication by many," said Charles Snapp, who organized the Walnut Ridge tour. "The staff at the Lawrence County Library, the Chamber of Commerce, area shop owners and several city employees working together welcomed this group with true southern hospitality."
Attendees were from Ireland, Italy, France, UK, Brazil and Australia. Morales said she could tell they really enjoyed visiting Walnut Ridge. "They were taking a lot of pictures and making wonderful comments about the city."
"It's exciting to see our tourism efforts are drawing international attention, but it's even more exciting to know this group could lead to numerous other groups in the next year," Snapp said.
