CHRISTMAS LIST ~ Kaitlyn Smith of Hoxie whispers her Christmas wish list to Santa at the Dickens' Wonderland event held in the Hoxie Service Center Thursday night. The event featured several choir and dance performances and activities such as writing letters to Santa and having tea with Queen Victoria. Community members also performed a rendition of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."

Justices vote down funds for Intermodal

Justices voted against a budget that included a $10,000 membership fee for the Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority during Monday night's Lawrence County Quorum Court meeting.

Symposium scheduled to celebrate LawCo. history

The Northeast Arkansas Regional Archives (NEARA) and the Arkansas History Commission will be hosting a symposium on Jan. 15 from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Powhatan Courthouse and at the Male and Female Academy on the grounds of the Powhatan Historic State Park.

House remains on roads board

Outgoing Walnut Ridge Mayor Don House has been reappointed to the Good Roads Arkansas Board.

Lancaster honored as LMHF advocate

Dr. Ted Lancaster was honored Friday night with the Lawrence Memorial Health Foundation Special Advocate award. Foundation board member Lila Floyd presented the award during the foundation's Christmas Gala held at The Studio, which recently opened downtown.
