Angels now available at courthouse

The Lawrence County Angel Tree, located in the lobby of the Lawrence County Courthouse, was decorated on Tuesday by second-graders from Walnut Ridge and Hoxie.

Angels now adorn the tree with names of children in the county. Names can be taken from the tree through Dec. 12, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

All gifts must be returned by Dec. 15, and individuals are asked to place the gifts in gift bags rather than wrapping them. The gifts will be distributed on Dec. 18.

In addition, monetary donations are welcome and can be made in the County Clerk's Office or at First National Bank, where an Angel Tree account is set up. First National will also have a drop box for unwrapped toys at its Walnut Ridge location.

Applications for families who wish to be recipients of gifts from the Angel Tree are available in the County Clerk's Office and the Lawrence County Housing Office. Individuals can also check with their school counselors. The deadline to apply is Tuesday.
