BLACK ROCK CELEBRATES ~ A Color Guard unit from the 875th National Guard Armory in Jonesboro presents the colors during the opening ceremony of the Black Rock Foothills Celebration held Saturday morning. The celebration, which began in 2003, included Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday activities.

Election results reported

Three mayoral races in Lawrence County were decided Tuesday, while a runoff will be held Nov. 25 for the position of Hoxie mayor, according to unofficial results released by County Clerk Tina Stowers.

Charles Snapp was elected Walnut Ridge Mayor with 850 votes (59 percent). Ed Lawson received 599 votes (41 percent).

Incumbent Don House announced earlier this year he would not to seek re-election.

Governors visit WR airport

Three governors landed at the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport late Thursday night. They were en route to a 'get out the vote' rally for Republican gubernatorial candidate Asa Hutchinson in Jonesboro on Friday morning.

AHTD to conduct public meetings

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will conduct two public involvement meetings to discuss the preliminary findings of the Hwy. 67 corridor study between Hwy. 412 in Walnut Ridge and the Missouri State Line.
