The old Sharum Theatre is set to be completely redone inside and out by Jumpstart Ministries in Walnut Ridge.

JSM and theatre owner Lauraetta Melton are working together to renovate the building and reopen it as a Christian theatre.

Jumpstart Director Ray Brandon is heading the project and Danny Leisure, construction consultant, will oversee all work being done. The project in slated to be complete by November 2015.

"We want to help the community and Lauraetta with this project. It's a dream she's had for a long time and hasn't been able to do," Leisure said.

When the theatre is complete, it will be set up to screen Christian movies, as well as live performances and concerts, and it will be available for local churches to rent.

Melton hasn't decided on a new name for the theatre and plans to hold a contest for the local community to make suggestions for the name.

Leisure said any donation of materials would be greatly appreciated as funds are limited for this project. To make a donation, contact Leisure at 870-809-2382.
