Walnut Ridge Airport building and hut leases are up for renewal, and commissioners voted to renew them with no rate increases at their meeting on Oct. 13. They also agreed to extend Donald Parten's lease on the airport land he farms. His lease will expire on Dec. 31, 2015, and will not include an increase either.
Commissioners discussed compliance issues and will work diligently to comply with all Federal Aviation Administration regulations, including having all activities approved by the FAA.
The next step in repairing the roof on the old Frolic Building now occupied and leased by V&B Manufacturing was approved. The commissions accepted a bid of $15,980 from Mashburn Roofing of Walnut Ridge. The center part of the roof will be repaired during this phase.
Airport engineer Stacey Morris from ETI Corporation in Memphis attended the meeting. He reminded the commission that grants are now available for projects needed by the airport.
Members of the Walnut Ridge Airport Commission are: Dan Coker, chairman, Lloyd Clark, Clay Sloan, Don Cavenaugh, Brett Cooper, Scott Brady and Gary Kearby. Chairman Coker's term will expire in December.
