Easton Toby Xander Fraser

Lance Fraser and Janet McEuen of Bay, formerly of Hoxie, have announced the birth of a son, born Aug. 17, 2014, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center.

The baby weighed eight pounds, two ounces, and has been named Easton Toby Xander Fraser. He has an older brother, Justin Fraser, three.

Lincoln Reid Hamann

Rob and Amy Hamann of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of a son, born Sept. 5, 2014, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center.

The baby weighed eight pounds, 14 ounces, and has been named Lincoln Reid Hamann. He has an older brother, Evan, five.

Grandparents are JoCarol and Mike Phillips and Juanita Gibson, all of Walnut Ridge, and Monica and Ed Hamann of McHenry, Ill.

Great-grandparents are Mae and Richard Phillips and Relton Forehand, all of Walnut Ridge.

Carstyn Blair McQuay

Cason and Rachel McQuay of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, born Sept. 16, 2014, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center.

The baby weighed six pounds, seven ounces, and has been named Carstyn Blair McQuay.

Grandparents are Jonathan Land and Crystal Land, both of Hoxie, and John McQuay and Sherry McQuay, both of Walnut Ridge.

Great-grandparents are Don and Gail Arnold of Walnut Ridge, Reggie and Kathy Bennett of Paragould, Joe and Jutta McQuay of Jonesboro and Jack Land of Hoxie.

Bekah Lynn Stowers

Chris and Beth Stowers of Clover Bend have announced the birth of a daughter, born Sept. 19, 2014, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center.

The baby weighed seven pounds, four ounces, and has been named Bekah Lynn Stowers. She has an older brother, Graham, 18 months.

Grandparents are Steve and Denise Graham of Clover Bend and Rick and Loretta Stowers of Hoxie.

Great-grandparents are Bonnie Graham and Vada Smith, both of Clover Bend, Lelia Stowers of Pocahontas and Margie Bell of Walnut Ridge.

Moore ~ Wilkerson

Benjamin Moore of Hoxie and Makayla Connors of Paragould have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Hailey Moore, to Colton Wilkerson, son of Bruce and Michelle Wilkerson of Pocahontas.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Morris and Marsha Moore of Walnut Ridge and Freddie and Shelia Jackson of Oak Grove. She is the great-granddaughter of Grace Heard of Walnut Ridge and Kathleen Moore of Jonesboro.

She is a 2013 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and attends Black River Technical College in Pocahontas. She is employed as a nursing assistant at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Leroy and Bonnie Wilkerson of Pocahontas and Billy and Jeanie Wilson of Missouri.

He is 2011 Pocahontas High School graduate and is employed at Utility Trailer Manufacturing in Paragould as a welder.

The couple will exchange vows on Dec. 13, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church in Portia.

All family and friends are invited to attend.

Obituaries

John Andrew Bagi

John Andrew Bagi, 93, of Lakewood, Ohio, died Oct. 7, 2014, at his home.

Born July 7, 1921, in Cleveland, he was the son of John and Elizabeth Olah Bagi. He had worked as an inspector at Light Motor Company in Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Reeves and Barbara Young.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie May Guilliams Bagi, whom he married Sept. 26, 1942, in Walnut Ridge; a daughter, Linda Martin, Madison, N.C.; a brother, William Bagi, North Ridgeville, Ohio; a sister, Ethel Neal, Cocoa, Fla.; and a grandson, John Martin.

Visitation is Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge, with a graveside service to follow at 4 p.m. at Opposition Cemetery in Ravenden.

Lance Oldham Ballard

A memorial service for Lance Oldham Ballard will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 5 p.m. and the service will begin at 6 p.m.

Lance, age 47, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Walnut Ridge, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014.

Rev. Jeanne Williams will preside at the service. The church is located at 214 Southwest Second Street.

Memorials can be made to the United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge.

Billy Robert Capps

Billy Robert "Bill" Capps, 88, of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 9, 2014, at Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab.

Born Jan. 31, 1926, in Kennett, Mo., he was the son of James Harrison and Lillie Wilson Capps. He lived most of his life in Lawrence County and was of the Assembly of God belief. He was a dental lab assistant in Walnut Ridge and Little Rock and a farm worker.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and two half-sisters.

Survivors include a son, Rob Capps, Fort Meyers, Fla.; and a sister, Mardell Goodman, Hoxie.

Graveside service was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Old Military Cemetery at Sedgwick with Marion Stringer officiating. Cox Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Billy Gene Dickerson

Billy Gene Dickerson, 87, of Imboden, died Oct. 14, 2014, at Walnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab.

Born March 16, 1927, in Imboden, he was the son of Robert and Mattie Jane Sellers Dickerson. He was a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II as a staff sergeant. He also served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Jewel Smith Dickerson, whom he married Sept. 1, 1945; three daughters, Peggy Stalnaker and Patti Dickerson, both of Imboden, and Margaret Taylor, Park City, Utah; three sons, Marshall Dickerson, Carthage, Mo., Allan Dickerson, Cromwell, Conn., and Anthony Dickerson, Salem; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Hope Cemetery with Bro. William Hallman officiating. Bryan Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at Bryan Funeral Chapel in Imboden.

Hazel Pauline Glenn

Hazel Pauline Glenn, 95, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge.

Born Oct. 14, 1919, the daughter of Neil and Stella Nuckolls Northcutt, she was married to W.R. Glenn for 57 years. She was a checker at Kroger, a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband W.R. Glenn; and her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Marvin) Kennedy, Walnut Ridge; a grandson, Glenn Kennedy, Black Rock; a granddaughter, Marlene (Chester) Shannon, Tuckerman; six great-grandchildren, Tyler (Heidi) Kennedy, Black Rock, Heath Kennedy, Cabot, Lane Kennedy, Black Rock, Spencer Shannon, Jonesboro, Jayden and Brette Shannon, both of Tuckerman; and a great-great-grandson, Jaxton Kennedy of Black Rock; and many other friends and relatives.

Funeral will be Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge with Bro. Jake Guenrich, Bro. Bill Hughes, Bro. Sam Roberts and Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Kennedy, Chester Shannon, Tyler Kennedy, Heath Kennedy, Spencer Shannon, Lane Kennedy and Jayden Shannon. Honorary pallbearers include Ken Craft, Steve Craft, Nathan Craft, Floyd Northcutt, Floyd Michael Northcutt and Lackey Moody Jr.

Visitation will be Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Lillie Mae King

Lillie Mae King, 83, of Pocahontas, died Oct. 13, 2014, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab.

Born July 1, 1931, in Imboden, she was the daughter of Wiley and Jeanette Toy Hackworth. She was a waitress and a member of Columbia Jarrett Baptist Church in Maynard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Arthur King; a brother, Vester Hackworth; and a sister, Mildred Pickenpough.

Survivors include two sons, Howard Lamoyne Franklin, Russellville, Mo., and Austin Leroy Franklin, California; a daughter, Audrey Hodges, Jefferson City, Mo.; four brothers, Jake Hackworth, Woodstock, Ill., Mack Hackworth, Pocahontas, Truman Hackworth, Fayetteville, and Wiley Hackworth, Hughesville, Mo.; and four sisters, Jenny Barker, North Little Rock, Linda Campi, Seminole, Fla., Geraldean Dunham, DeKalb, Ill., and Jane Gruchacz, Live Oaks, Fla.

Graveside service is Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Masonic Cemetery in Pocahontas with Bill Good officiating. Cox Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Nicole McLaughlin

Andrea Nicole McLaughlin, 36, of Hoxie, died Oct. 7, 2014, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Oct. 28, 1977, in Jonesboro, she was a homemaker, a mother and was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Woody; and grandparents, William and Knowles Teel.

Survivors include her husband, Jeremy McLaughlin; two sons, Chance McLaughlin and Gage McLaughlin, both of the home; a daughter, Patience Woody, Walnut Ridge; a stepson, DeAustin McLaughlin, of the home; and her mother, Kathryn Teel Woody, Walnut Ridge.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bros. Warner Allen and William Vassar officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Annabelle Sauls

Annabelle Holloway Sauls, 92, of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 6, 2014, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born May 27, 1922, in Alicia, she was the daughter of John and Florence Covington Holloway. She was a resident of Lawrence County and was a member of Free Street Church of Christ in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Otis Holloway; and four sisters, Edith Rountree, Ethel Chronister, Mildred Rogers and Margaret Broadway.

Survivors include her husband, James Sauls; two daughters, Shelia Dean and husband Owen, Woodland Park, Colo., and Leanne Petersen, San Diego; a brother, Morris Holloway and wife Avis, Jonesboro; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Don House officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Ed Morgan, Royce Lusk, David Dean, Chris Davis, Eric Marcrum and J.T. Chronister.

Lucille Maxine Slatton

Lucille Maxine Slatton, 89, of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 12, 2014, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 13, 1924, in Batesville, she was the daughter of Florence Miller. She was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge. She entered the Miss Lawrence Hall Pageant twice and won both times.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. Slatton, in 1980, whom she married Dec. 18, 1943; a brother and a sister.

Survivors include three daughters, Jackie Hutton and husband Waymond, Walnut Ridge, Norma Jean Waddell and partner Ted McCord, Pocahontas, and Vicki Warner and husband Joe, Saffell; four sons, Donald Slatton and wife Barbara, Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Jimmy Slatton, Melvin Slatton and wife Brenda and Rickie Slatton and wife Peggy, all of Walnut Ridge; two brothers, Earl Wallin and wife Geraldine, New Mexico, and Boyce Wallin and wife Joann, Illinois; two sisters, Brenda Marlin and husband James, Walnut Ridge, and Joyce Metcalf and husband Ted, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is today at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.
