Daxx Crosby Womack

Rob and Stacy Womack have announced the birth of a son, born Sept. 24, 2014, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

The baby weighed nine pounds, three ounces, and has been named Daxx Crosby Womack. He has five siblings, Shelbi, Reagan, Mattison, Whitley and Robbie.

Grandparents are Tony and Mary Erwin of Black Rock and Bob and Janet Womack of Batesville.

Great-grandparents are Jean Womack of Conway and Helen Isreal of Ravenden.

Obituaries

Alvis Joe Cameron

Alvis Joe Cameron, 88, died Oct. 2, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 4, 1926, at Eaton, he was the son of V.J. and Anna Richey Cameron. He was a longtime resident of Lawrence County and was a member of United Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Arnold Cameron, on Oct. 7, 2010; and two brothers, Lavern Cameron and Bruce Cameron.

Survivors include a sister, Lillian Brannon of Lynn.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Glenn Smith officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Gary Huskey, Steve Huskey, Steve Arnold, Tommy Brannon, Gale Linebaugh and Herman Shaw.

Thomas Joseph Carley

Thomas Joseph Carley, 52, of Hoxie, died Oct. 2, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 3, 1962, he was the son of Jayne Thomas and Patsy Ethel Parsons Carley. He was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County and was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Edgar Carley and wife Cheyenne, Saffell; a daughter, Angel Mize and husband Jimmy, Poughkeepsie; two sisters, Kim Roberts and husband Kevin and Rhonda Carley, all of Hoxie; and two granddaughters, Braelyn Mize and Finley Lyric Carley.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Randy Miles, Tracy Moore, Kenny Wooten, Rodney Parker, David Abbott and Jeff Olson.

Kenneth Ray Davis

Kenneth Ray "KD" Davis, 63, of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 2, 2014, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born March 5, 1951, in Hoxie, he was the son of the late Orville and Glenda Lee Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Dale Davis; and a sister-in-law, Linda Jo Davis.

Surviors include a son, Kenny Davis and wife Dana, Hoxie; a daughter, Kassie Davis, Jonesboro; four sisters, Pat Housdan and husband Eugene, Russellville, Lou Romine and husband Joe, Hoxie, and Judy Rice and husband Sonny and Debbie Schaechtel and husband Butch, all of Pocahontas; three brothers, Wendell Davis and wife Ada, Springfield, Tenn., Eddie Davis and wife Linda, and Randy Davis, all of Walnut Ridge; four grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Emily Davi, Lily Davis and Forrest Davis; and a great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge with Rev. Philip Housdan officiating. Faith Funeral Service of Manila has charge of arrangements.

James Huston Denison

A memorial service and burial of ashes, for James Huston Denison, 76, of Fenton, Mich., who died Aug. 19, 2014, will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. at Old Lebanon Cemetery.

His nephew, Terry Joe Price of the St. Louis area, will give the eulogy and other family members will take part. Since there is no funeral home directing this service, anyone unable to stand, will need to bring a chair. There will be a potluck lunch following the service. James Walker Goff

James Walker Goff, 88, of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 2, 2014, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 15, 1925, in Smithville, he was the son of Joe and Eliza Wells Goff. He was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County and was of the Baptist belief. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired volunteer fireman.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cunningham Goff, whom he married Sept. 13, 1952; a son, Gary Goff, Walnut Ridge; a daughter, Gay Lynn Williams and husband Bill, Jonesboro; and three grandchildren, Krystal Newsom, Joe Goff and Adam Goff.

Funeral was Monday at 10 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Marion Stringer officiating.

Pallbearers were Bill Williams, Joe Goff, Adam Goff, Keelen Newsom, Ricky Goff and Charles Goff.

Cynthia Gail Mitchell

Cynthia Gail Mitchell, 59, of Walnut Ridge, died Oct. 4, 2014, at her home.

Born Jan. 25, 1955, in Walnut Ridge, she was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County and a member of First Baptist Church in Hoxie.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amber Flock; her mother, Mary Ellen Midgett; and a grandmother, Thelma Boyd.

Survivors include a son, Matthew Flock, Jordan; a sister, Kim Maxie and husband Danny, Hoxie; and her stepfather, Jerry Williams and wife Eugenia, Piggott.

Graveside service is today at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Visitation is today, one hour prior to the service.

O.C. Mullen

O.C. Mullen, 81, of Cave City, died Oct.3, 2014, at a Batesville nursing home.

Born Aug. 20, 1933, at Jesup, he was the son of Ostridge Cleo and Rosa Belle Green Mullen. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Mount View Baptist Church in Cave City. He retired from White River Medical Center in Batesville after 20 years in the maintenance department.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Mullen; a son, Mike Mullen; four brothers, Earl Mullen, Jeff Mullen, Glen Mullen and R.W. Mullen; and four sisters, Idel Wilburn, Lois Osburn, Mae Hoggard and Noma DeJarnette.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Walling and husband Mitchell, Cave City, and Penny Snyder, Little Rock; seven grandchildren, Eddie Walling, Nathan Walling, Matthew Snyder, David Snyder, Bobbi Lee Skipper, Joseph Snyder and Bethany Richardson; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at 2 p.m. at Qualls Funeral Home in Cave City with Joseph Snyder and Dennis Gay officiating. Burial was in Mount View Cemetery east of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Eddie Walling, Nathan Walling, Matthew Snyder, David Snyder, Chad Skipper, Eric Richardson, Kenny Snyder and Danny Watson. Great-grandsons served as honorary pallbearers.
