Individuals can support
In 2013, the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce saw a need to develop more funding for economic development, and specifically industrial recruitment, in the county.
To help meet this need a new program, the Lawrence County 100, was developed with a goal to have 100 individuals give $100 a year to economic development.
“The Lawrence County 100 is vital for economic growth in Lawrence County," Chamber Board Chair Fran Cavenaugh said.
The first year, the campaign saw significant success with approximately 80 committing to be a part of the program. Now, as the Chamber seeks continued support from the charter members, it is also seeking to add new members to the group.
“This partnership will give Lawrence County the ability to offer certain incentives to new industrial prospects," Cavenaugh said. “In addition it will give the Lawrence County Chamber the ability to recruit more industries."
Lawrence County 100 members were special guests at a meet and greet prior to the annual Chamber banquet in 2013. Cavenaugh said there are similar plans for this year, as well.
“We are asking all concerned citizens to join us in our efforts to bring economic development to Lawrence County by joining the Lawrence County 100," Cavenaugh said.
The Chamber office recently mailed letters to existing members of the group, but new members are always welcome. Membership in the Chamber is not required to participate in the Lawrence County 100. Those who wish to be a part of the group can send $100 to the Lawrence County Chamber at P.O. Box 842, Walnut Ridge, AR 72476 or call 886-3232 for more information.
