COLORS OF FALL ~ Leaves are changing colors across Lawrence County after a cold snap in early September. Many are just starting to lighten and turn yellow, and these found at the Lawrence County Courthouse have already turned a deep red. The Farmers' Almanac's long range weather forecast for the South Central United States predicts another cold snap in early October, then a rapid warm up around Oct. 20. November is predicted to bring in colder temperatures again, as well as rain, throughout the month and a dry, but cold Thanksgiving.

NEARIFA commits funds to WR prospect

It was reported at Thursday"s Intermodal Authority meeting that the Executive Board of the Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority has been meeting with a prospect that is looking to bring 40-50 jobs to a facility located on the Walnut Ridge airport property.

Expo and Job Fair

The Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce will holds its third Business Expo and Job Fair on Friday, Oct. 17, from noon to 4 p.m.

Driver hopes to find man who saved her

Shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a one-vehicle accident off of Highway 67 between Minturn and Alicia with the vehicle submerged in a body of water.

economic development

In 2013, the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce saw a need to develop more funding for economic development, and specifically industrial recruitment, in the county.
