THUMPERTHON RAISES $9,000 ~ The fourth annual Cavenaugh Thumperthon 5K race was held Saturday at Walnut Ridge's Stewart Park. The event raised approximately $9,000 for the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society and attracted some 200 runners and a total crowd of 400 people from Northeast Arkansas and beyond. The race began in honor of automobile dealer Don Cavenaugh and in memory of his canine running partner, Thumper. Hoxie citizens demand action on containers

Several Hoxie citizens expressed frustration with how the city is handling its zoning ordinances regarding containers within the city limits at the Sept. 9 city council meeting.

Committees meet in preparation for Peco

The Northeast Arkansas Regional Intermodal Facilities Authority (NEARIFA) recently held two days of committee meetings in preparation of the arrival of Peco in Northeast Arkansas.

WR city employees to receive raise

Walnut Ridge city employees will receive a 50-cents-per-hour raise effective Sept. 15.

LCSD mill hike fails

Patrons of the Lawrence County School District voted down a proposed 6.9 millage increase in Tuesday's School Election by a vote of 153 (20%) for and 606 (80%) against. The district is made up of the Walnut Ridge School and the former Black Rock School.
