Mustangs trample
Trumann, 42-6

Gunner Cook rushed for 153 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Hoxie Mustangs to a 42-6 season-opening victory over the Trumann Wildcats Friday night at Crider Field.

Hoxie jumped out to a 7-0 lead when Hunter Wilson caught a five-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cole Sears with 3:20 remaining in the first quarter. Casey Middlecoff added the extra point.

Trumann answered with a touchdown of their own, but missed the PAT, leaving the Mustangs with a 7-6 lead.

Walnut Ridge falls to Corning

Walnut Ridge and Corning renewed their old football rivalry Friday night, with Corning winning this year's battle of Bobcats 20-8.

Lady Cats sweep Midland

The Walnut Ridge senior high volleyball team opened 3A Northeast Conference play by sweeping the Midland Lady Mustangs Thursday at Sharum Gymnasium. The Lady Bobcats dominated the match, winning by scores of 25-5, 25-9, 25-11.

in Cave City Invitational

The Hoxie senior high volleyball team competed in the Cave City Invitational on Saturday. The Lady Mustangs split two matches and lost two matches in pool play.
