HIGHWAY 67 REOPENED ~ Workers move a damaged train engine off of Highway 67 in Hoxie Saturday morning. Crews have been clearing out wreckage since a two-train head-on accident occurred on Aug. 17. Hoxie Police Chief Glen Smith said that the highway has been reopened but some debris remains in the area. Work is expected to be complete within the week. TD Photo ~ Megan Heyl

LawCo. moving forward
with application for prison

After a unanimous vote by the eight justices present at a special meeting held August 19, Lawrence County is moving forward in the application process for a maximum-security state prison.

Voters to decide on millage

The patrons of the Lawrence County School district will have a chance to cast their ballots regarding a proposed millage increase of 6.9 mills for the district in the Sept. 16 school election.

Governor stresses importance
of Private Option to Arkansas

Governor Mike Beebe came to Walnut Ridge Monday night with a message to convey to Arkansas citizens regarding the Private Option Health Care Act.
