Maddie Jane Duncan

Shane and Angela Duncan of Bono have announced the birth of a daughter, born Aug. 3, 2014, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds, 13 ounces, and has been named Maddie Jane Duncan. She has one sister, Allie Danielle Duncan.

Grandparents are Ron and Wanda Patterson of Corning and Noel and Judy Duncan of Jonesboro.

Great-grandparents are Ina Faye Guthrie of Strawberry, Charles Patterson of Corning and Ruth Kelley of Elsinore, Mo.

Dennis Ray Ball

Dennis Ray Ball, 56, of Hoxie, died Aug. 12, 2014, at his home.

Born July 31, 1958, in Walnut Ridge, he was retired from ASU after 35 years of management. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Fellowship and Cache River Pentecostal Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Lynn Ball; and his grandparents, Walter and Sadie Ball and Oscar and Ora Gentry.

Survivors include his wife Edith Tinker Ball; a son, Jeffry Ball, Dalton; a daughter, Natalie Ball, Little Rock; his parents, David and Shirley Ball, O'Kean; four sisters, Carole Loggains, Pocahontas, Jan Hill, Delaplaine, Lavonda Jones, Alicia, and Kim Rutledge, Hoxie; and two grandchildren, Xander Ball and Lola Ball.

Funeral is Friday at 2 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Rick Hart and Calvin Botard officiating. Burial will be in Wells Cemetery at Dalton.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Hill, Chris McMullin, Brian McMullin, James Tinker, Travis Tinker, Daniel Prater, Blake Prater, Blake Passalaqua and Chad Rutledge. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Sullivan, Larry Darr, Eddie Hill, Anthony Passalaqua, Lanny Tinker, Richard Tinker, Greg Rutledge, Bobby Burton, Liz Hickman and Judy Dudley.

Teena V. Burnett

Teena V. Burnett, 68, of Paragould, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Aug. 5, 2014, at her home.

Born Nov. 15, 1945, in Blytheville, she was a self-employed decorator and the owner of Touches by Teena. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Paragould.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Virginia Stallings.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Burnett and wife Holly, and Nate Burnett and wife Jana, all of Paragould; two brothers, Don Stallings and Mike Stallings, both of Blytheville; two sisters, Beauton Gilbow, Norman, Okla., and Peggy Jackson, Blytheville; and six grandchildren, Abbey Burnett, Banks Harris, Alex Burnett, Jett Burnett, Cache Burnett and Cannon Burnett.

Funeral was Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Jason Gilbow and John Fleming officiating. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Stallings, Joe Gilbow, Jeff Gilbow, Brooks Stallings, Dale Stewart and Layne Gilbow. Honorary pallbearer was Stephen Hickerson.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Paragould or MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Pauline Christenberry

Pauline Mobley Christenberry, 96, of Smithville, died Aug. 7, 2014, at a Cave City nursing home.

Born Feb. 2, 1918, in Cave City, she was the daughter of Homer and Cecile Brown Mobley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jewel Christenberry; a brother and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, James Christenberry and wife Donna, Benton, and Wayne Christenberry and wife Lew, Smithville; a sister, Jean Brock, Concord; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Qualls Funeral Home in Cave City with Bro. Vance Penn officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ronald Mobley, Kenneth Edwardson, Billy Horton, Danny Hobby, Paul Christenberry and Phillip Christenberry. Honorary pallbearers were Lee Lewis and Mack King.

Larry Forrester

Larry Sloan Forrester, 72, of Cherokee Village, formerly of Hoxie, died Aug. 6, 2014, in Walnut Ridge.

Born Nov. 8, 1941, at Egypt, he owned Larry's Muffler Shop in Walnut Ridge and was a member of Arbor Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sloan and Audrey Adkisson Forrester; and a brother, Howard Forrester.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Huskey Forrester, whom he married April 7, 1962, in Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Kim Brown and husband Billy, Hoxie, and Sherry Boles and husband Tommie, Ash Flat; a son, Little Larry Forrester, Hoxie; a sister, Patsy Forrester Coy, Walnut Ridge; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Brown, Spencer Brown, Shakara Boles Woodley, Shalena Boles, Shayla Boles, Cade Forrester, Cara Forrester; two great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and Ashley Forrester, mother of Cade and Cara.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge with David Ponder officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Darrell Blalock, Bob Goodwin, Lavon Light, Chris Tate, Jeremy Parker and Chad Pace. Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Gunsolus, Jerrell Milligan, Ricky Parker and the Arbor Grove Senior Adult Men's Class.

Norma Jean Haigwood

Norma Jean Haigwood, 67, of Cape Coral, Fla., died Aug. 4, 2014, at her home.

Born May 7, 1947, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Velmer and Juanita Beasley.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Rocky Beasley and Terry Beasley.

Survivors include two brothers, Thomas "Tom" Beasley and wife Julia, and Billy Beasley and wife Micha, all of Imboden; and two sisters, Sheila Midgett and husband Carl, Walnut Ridge, and Judy Fleming, Hoxie.

Visitation is Thursday from 4-5:30 p.m. at Life Tabernacle in Walnut Ridge. Burial will be in Strangers Home Cemetery at Alicia at a later date.

Jesse Hoggard

Jesse Columbus Hoggard, age 86, of Strawberry died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at a Cave City nursing home.

He was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Cave City to Leo and Zola McCloud Hoggard. He married Maye Mullen on March 9, 1948. They were married 58 years before her death in 2005. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church.

In additon to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Hoggard, who died in 2000; an infant son, Tommy Joe Hoggard; and his sister, Maxine Guthrie Smith.

Survivors include three granddaughters, Lisa and husband Greg Howard and Sandy and husband Joey Howard, all of Strawberry and Tracy and husband Robert Howard of Lynn; seven great-grandchildren, Chelsey Howard, Ashton Alls, Courtney Howard, Kodi Clemons, Emma Howard, Holden Howard and Tinsley Howard; his brothers, Bartis Hoggard of Cave City, and Charles D. Hoggard of Calamine; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral was Monday at 10 a.m. at the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Curt Howard, Bro. Keith Wilson and Bro. Paul Sowell officiating. Burial was in Lancaster Cemetery at Strawberry with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were his nephews: James Hoggard, Paul Hoggard, Jimmy Hoggard, David Hoggard, Ralph Hoggard, Mitchell Hoggard and Kevin Hoggard. Honorary pallbearers were the nurses and staff of the Cave City Nursing Home.

E.C. Lamb

E.C. Lamb, 80, of Imboden, died Aug. 9, 2014.

Born July 13, 1934, in Newark, he was the son of John and Eunice Lamb. He was a heavy machine operator.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Litteral; a daughter-in-law, Dee Lamb; four brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ethelene Lamb; six sons, Rick Lamb, Benny Lamb and wife Meda, Steven Lamb and wife Nona, Lowell Lamb and wife Laura, J.C. Lamb and wife Sharon, and Keith Lamb and wife Beth; two brothers; four sisters; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time. Taylor-Cox Funeral Home of Pocahontas had charge of arrangements.

Joseph Burling Moore

Joseph Burling Moore, 45, of Walnut Ridge, died Aug. 6, 2014, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

He was born March 6, 1969, in Rockford, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father, Loren Dale Moore.

Survivors include two sons, Chase Winton, Piggott, and Vinson Davis, Black Rock; a daughter, Alissia Morrow, Biggers; his mother, Ruth Moore, Hoxie; a brother, Leland Moore, Paragould; and a sister, Kristina Moore, Hoxie.

A memorial service was held Sunday at 5 p.m. at New Beginning Full Gospel Church in Hoxie with Rick Anglin officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Connie L. Smith

Connie Louise Smith, 66, of Smithville, died Aug. 6, 2014, at her home.

Born Nov. 11, 1947, in Rockford, Ill., she was a district manager for Dollar General and was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Smith, on July 14, 2013; her parents, Alvin and Deloris Stroud Chastain; a brother; and seven sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Candy Morris and partner Rob Morand, Lewes, Del., and Robin Williams and husband Glenn, Smithville; a son, Robert Shane Smith, Flora, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Kalyn, Kathryn, Kyle, Kasey and Kaden.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. House-Gregg Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
