CROWNED — Lilly McQuay, 17-year-old daughter of Heather McQuay of Walnut Ridge and Paul McQuay of Paragould, was crowned Miss Lawrence County at the annual pageants held Monday night at the Bill McCurley Gymnasium on the Sloan-Hendrix campus in Imboden. State prison voted down

In a 5-4 vote, justices voted against applying to have a proposed multi-million dollar maximum-security state prison located in Lawrence County at Monday night's quorum court meeting.

Muncipal filings
due on Friday

The filing period for municipal offices ends Friday at noon, and several races have already developed, according to County Clerk Tina Stowers.

Beatles at the Ridge to open with symposium

An expanded Beatles Author and Artist Symposium will kick off this year’s Beatles at the Ridge music festival, Sept. 19-20 in Walnut Ridge. The symposium will feature nationally known authors, multi-media presentations, art and private collection displays.

Bullard wins TD contest

Cassie Bullard of Hoxie was the overall winner in this year’s Times Dispatch Summertime Photo Contest. Her winning photo is featured on the cover of the contest insert in this edition.
