Bids approved for roadway
resurface projects in LawCo.

The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved two bids for improvements to roadways in Lawrence County.

The projects will resurface 1.5 miles of roadway in Hoxie, one mile in Powhatan and 1.8 miles of County Roads 73 and 76 - east of Walnut Ridge.

Streets to receive some resurfacing in Hoxie include: Southwest Alice, Southeast Second, Southeast Gibson, Southwest Gibson, Harding and Southwest Randolph.

Roads being worked on in Powhatan include: Second, Seventh (Ficklin), Lindsey and Mathews.

Atlas Asphalt of Batesville was awarded both contracts for the resurface projects.

The county road project, costing $298,368.84, is being funded through the State Aid County Road Program. Construction should begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting, and should be complete this fall.

The city streets project will cost $380,644.36 and is being funded through the State Aid City Streets Program. Construction will begin in two to four weeks and should be complete this summer.
