WRHS business teacher
gets in-depth view of
New York Stock Exchange

When Mary Smith teaches her Investments and Securities and other business classes this year at Walnut Ridge High School, she’ll be sharing firsthand experiences of her five days spent at the center of the financial marketplace.

Smith is one of only 40 teachers from across the United States who was awarded a fellowship to participate in the New York Stock Exchange Teachers’ Graduate Workshop. Over 500 teachers applied for the program, and Smith was the only one selected from Arkansas.

Municipal filings underway

The filing period for municipal offices is underway and several have filed their petitions with County Clerk Tina Stowers.

Bids approved for roadway
resurface projects in LawCo.

The Arkansas State Highway Commission approved two bids for improvements to roadways in Lawrence County.

Tinker seeks reelection

Lifelong resident Lanny Tinker has announced that he will seek reelection as mayor of Hoxie.

Bypass proposed at Light

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) has identified a proposed south bypass as the preferred alternative in the vicinity of Light for the Highway 412 widening project in Greene and Lawrence counties.
